PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

my desktop icons wont highlight and they wont open up...WTF!!! everything is fine after a re-start, but when i try to open a file by right clicking and chosing to open with a different program, a chime sounds (the file done chime).......does anyone know what to do about this? thanks in advance...dave

if you have a little idea of computers, try pressing control+alt+del, look for any strange process in the list and end it...

if you can manage to run a spyware or virus scan software, do it at once too.

uninstall any software you don't need/use and you have recently installed..

OH.. if you have installed Zone Alarm 5, uninstall it too :P
it made my computer crash several times last week

i restarted.......clicked on a desktop icon windows media file, and it keeps making that sound and locks all desktop icons still...........
