    ACC vs MP3

Hi, I was reading the other day that acc can deliver a better compress quality of music at lower bitrates (128-192) than mp3.

Since i?m going to rip all of my cd?s in to my ipod I would like to know which format is going to bring me the best audio quality.

    What do you guys think?

Short for Advanced Audio Coding, one of the audio compression formats defined by the MPEG-2 standard. AAC is sometimes referred to as MPEG-2 NBC (not backwards compatible) because it is not compatible with the MPEG-1 coding scheme.

AAC boasts higher quality audio reproduction than MP3 and requires 30% less data to do so.

flac is the way to go compression wise IMO but unfortunately ipod doesn't support it....

AAC will play on an iPod. In fact, this is the format that you will get if you download a song from Apple with iTunes. I currently use 192 kbps AAC when ripping from CDs to go on my iPod. They sound better than a 192 kbps MP3 file but take up the same amount of disc space.
