DVD-R vs DVD+R

I am trying to be consistent and choose one of the two formats and cant really decide. Some say dvd+r is faster but dvd-r has better compatibility.
Anyone willing to share their experience? Anything particularly annoying about either of the formats?

i guess you can buy a burner compatible with both formats

I think -R is more widely used..over here anyway (?) I haven't heard of speed differences.

Most burners now will do both..I haven't burnt any +R's, though I could.

Hi u must buy a Pionner 107 Bunner Dvd...8x -R + R.. I use it and i idont ve problems. Now i am try with G5 Bunner in Mac.

ari, i have the nec nd-2500, it burns both formats, awesome drive. much better than the pioneer and cheaper too. i just dont want to be shocked one day in the future if/when i cant read a disc that i burned a year before that, then i would have to go crazy looking for old drives.

they should finilize the standard for those formats, this is insane. and now the dual layer drives are out, you just cant keep up with the new formats... :? and blue ray is coming up next....

according to that article, dvd-r should have an advantage over dvd+r when it comes to compatibility - 96% vs 87%. i hope that's right, because so far the experience that i had was that when i tried to read dvd-r or dvd+r on older drive, neither one was recognized.

by the way, can anyone recommend any brand ? I use fujifilm and verbatim

I have tried a brand called SKY and I gotta say it is useless to hell either +R or -R.

Verbatim should be a good one..
