Well that wasn't very enlightening. Here I am asking for knowledge, and all I get is insults. Come on brotha. Can you clear up one question I've had: is leaving Islam punishable by death, or is that nonsense?

Maybe you should try to not load your questions, then you might get a better response. Using terms like 'enlightening' and phrases like 'can you clear one thing up' tends to add an element of sarcasm also.
Honestly, most of my news is from word of mouth from people I know are smarter than I am... perhaps you, I dunno. I also get my news from Charlie Rose interviews, VICE, and National Public Radio... maybe the occasional Huff Post or NY Times, and that's really it.
Here's how I asked my friend who is Muslim the same question:
hey bro - can you clear up a few questions I have about Islam? I openly admit I am fairly ignorant about the religion, as you know, so I don't mean for these questions at all to be insulting. I heard that if you leave Islam, the religion, that you should be killed according to most Muslims? And that in Egypt, most Muslims believe adultery should be responded with stoning? Any truths to either of these claims? Im genuinely curious, because I've never viewed Islam as a violent religion at all, but I'm hearing a lot about the religion right now, for obvious reasons.
his response:
Hey bro, real busy at work today. As soon as I get a chance I will answer these questions in detail. And don't worry, I take no offense and I would much rather you ask then wonder. I'll get back to you.
He is head of security for a large company in Manhattan, and is very busy... but this is an example of how I make my decisions and where I get my answers.

Judging by his use of the Queen's I'm suprised he made head janitor.
He's actually an engineer buddy, but nice try. Most of the people I know type how they speak, not caring about how it's punctuated. I know many people who are very successful who email their close friends this way. We call it being friendly and IN-formal vs. writing to and speaking to each other in "the queens."
Anyway, he called me tonight and we spoke about Islam for 30 minutes. I learned a lot actually and really respect the religion even more than before.
That was nonsense as well. Our media is pretty fucked up, I don't really pay attention to most of it, but every now and then, kind of like internet porn, it catches your attention...

I think Zover was referring to the response from your NY buddy on the Egyptian Muslims.
