He's performing at Rainbow Serpent Festival FFS! LOL
I know... You also forgot to mention the scorching heat, sticky flies and psy-trance loving ferals that'll be there. That's why we're making the trip from Perth and Launceston (respectively) to see him in Sydney, in a club. As we missed him by days in Bali a few years ago.
Sorry DIDI I was just being facetious.![]()
I most certainly didn't forget, I was just being polite. I have already been nagged relentlessly about going to Rainbow. Happens every year, I politely explain and they always argue with me.
I am never going to want to go there.
The only Dj that would get me there is Hernan and even then I would just turn up for his set![]()
Okay having never been to Chinese Laundry before I was a little taken back by the small size of the 'Cave' room where Pole Folder played. However since he was last to play, and following a rather arrogant looking but surprisingly impressive Finnebassen (added late to the line up too I might add), I was well and truly warmed up after drinking a whole bottle of Greenock Creek Apricot Block Shiraz (2008 ).
Having never seen Pole Folder play live, and revering his productions since John Digweed's use of his tracks in GU006 Sydney compilation, the expectation levels were high. Not to mention his Destinations show on Frisky Radio consistently premiering his live sets, from the moment he set up until the very last track I can say it was a worthwhile experience travelling from Perth to Sydney just to see the Belgian legend.
He started his set without mucking around, and after hearing Khen @ Sonic Union's Driven By Demand (Pole Folder Remix) I was rocking. Sharing a couple of bourbons and a surprisingly delicious Fireball whisky and lemonade with max420 (P.s. don't get me started on Sydney's RSA rules and lockout BS), I danced for most of Pole Folder's set happy just to be in the same room as him. It was a great night.
Suffice to say overall, I'm glad I made the effort to travel from Perth for his only side show. While max420 made the observation that he (Pole Folder) was looking "older", doesn't everyone over the years? Stoked to be photographed, and included on the Chinese Laundry website. Not quite as Sia-ellusive as you I might add, but each to their own right? Next it's Sven Väth in Bangkok, can't wait!
Finnebassen was high as a kite this night.
