    CPU Fans

I have a 3.2 Ghz P-IV and the CPU mounted fan is loud as fack. I thought it was my 6800 ultra but dang I removed the power cable to the CPU fan and I couldn't even hear the damn thing on.

Is there a brand/heat sink/cooling unit that anyone can recommend.

I won't be back until next Tuesday, so if Get Carter is the correct answer, I would appreciate of someone else posts a new cap for me

I know but Zalman are also expensive. This is mainly intended to be a "media" PC and looking more to "reduce" the noise rather than completely eliminate it.

Zalman's are great for charging too much money with little cooling but if you want a great heatsink for an awesome price, check out Thermalright. They've been kicking ass for many years. I've got one in each system. Awesome temps. As for fans, it depends on what size you want and what kind of output you'd like. I run 120mm fans in my systems and they're downtuned so I get great CFM with low noise.

I love my Zalman, but that may be way more than you need or are looking for. It's not like you looking to overclock or need super low temps. From what I gather, the noise is the primary concern.

For fans, look for the biggest one with the slowest rotation speed. That alone should be good for a couple decibels reduction.
