    Dune

    I have no idea why I didn't read these books sooner. Amazing, amazing stuff.
    I have never really read anything that is written the way these books are. Almost done with the series, probably will finish tonight.

    Has anyone here read the Dune prequels? If so, any good?

              dont be fooled by the remake. get the original with Kyle McLaughlin.
              great 80's science fiction.

                      dune the movie was great! this was all before everything became sci-fi. it had a much more greater effect than if it came out today.

                              The book and the orignal film are amazing. Reccomend 110%


                              The sequel books were good but nowhere near Dune.

                                              Glad you discovered Dune! Definitely the TOP sci-fi series of all time. I've heard Hyperion is close, and I just started it. I would watch the David Lynch Dune before seeing the new Sci Fi channel series - it captures the grit and glory of the feudal system that I think Herbert wrote about so well. I think the series peaks between the end of Children and God Emperor (with the exception of the first and how amazing it is - I just reread it for like the 5th time) The prequels are ok, but I stopped after reading House Harkonnen. They don't have the urgency of the original series. Fun, but I don't think I'll get to the others...Enjoy!

                                                      the movie kind of lamed me out but after watching it under the influence, it made it a little more interesting, guess everything in there is so old skool. but thats what wer all about now!!

                                                          I read the 1st book and loved it.

                                                          I also got the second and third books for chrismas but haven't been able to read them because I have to study for my exams

                                                          Haven't seen the films are they as good as the book?
