On December 11, 2010, the creative forces behind VOLATL Events and Oktave join up to present the legendary DJ Three, alongside Spectral and Hello?Repeat artist Kate Simko, in the heart of Chicago’s underground. Three’s last Chicago appearance was hosted at the legendary Red Dog night at Ohm, where he was welcomed to a packed dance floor full of hungry music enthusiasts.

This will be the second collaborative effort for the Chicago mainstay promotional agency, VOLATL, and the newly launched Chicago branch of Oktave. Oktave resident Jeff Derringer will not only serve as co-promoter for the night, but will also handle the opening DJ slot for this special holiday show. Pre-sale tickets will be available via www.residentadvisor.net.

Currently residing in New York City, Three has been tirelessly carrying the flag for underground electronic music in the US since his rise out of the sunny state of Florida in the early 90s. In that time, he's emerged as one of the brightest and most talented DJs in the US and continues to be a true inspiration for electronic music fans everywhere. Three’s tour dates show both diversity in audience and a genre-bending passion for good music; he’s held residencies at NYC’s Twilo, Cielo (Robots) and Love, as well as Florida’s legendary Simon’s, while playing lauded guest spots at San Francisco’s Wicked party, Fabric (UK), Panorama Bar (Berlin) and forward thinking events like Japan’s Labyrinth Festival and Australia’s Rainbow Serpent.

DJ Three has also made quite a name for himself with his diverse productions, which have become staples for all styles of DJs, such as his releases on Hallucination Limited, his own imprint, as well as international staples like Crosstown Rebels. Aside from his natural ability on the decks, Three sets himself apart from the rest of the pack by presenting eclectic sounds with an open-minded attitude towards everything he does. From his own music to his DJ sets, Three is a "DJ's DJ" who has always leaned toward the cutting edge without losing touch with the fundamentals of house and techno.

Chicago-born producer and DJ Kate Simko is a bona fide treasure of Chicago’s electronic music community. A core artist on the Spectral Sound label, Kate has also released music on Ghostly, Eklo, and is set to debut her first full-length solo album on Berlin-based Hello? Repeat in Spring 2011. Kate’s music occupies a creative space between house and techno with a personal style that sets it apart. She has played London’s Fabric, Berlin’s Berghain, Sunday School for Degenerates in New York, Winter Music Conference in Miami, MUTEK, DEMF, and more.

Jeff Derringer is the resident DJ, creative director and co-founder of Oktave. This role finds him playing alongside some of the world’s premiere DJ talent, including Par Grindvik, Cio D’or, DJ Three and more. Derringer kicked off the fall with the release of his ‘Principle’ EP on New York-based Subtrak Records. The EP featured remixes from Samuli Kemppi (Ostgut Ton | Prologue) and Noah Pred (Thoughtless), and is seeing strong support from high caliber techno artists.
