...No Resolutions with Derek Plaslaiko
Vision Nightclub again will host a collaborative event featuring Chicago’s underground dance music promoters, on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2011, for an event dubbed, “ No Resolutions.” Following the wild success of the “Mutiny” night in October, alias. and VOLATL are once-again joining forces with Migrashun and MiM to raise the caliber of event production in Chicago with a concerted effort to kick of 2011. Headlining the night will be long – time Bunker resident and vinyl DJ master, Derek Plaslaiko. He will be playing alongside some of Chicago’s finest talent, who represent the resurgence of the dance music community in the city. This will be a free event to mark the start of what is sure to be a phenomenal year of music.
Derek Plaslaiko is a student of Detroit’s “Third Wave” of techno. He was transfixed by the sounds of the Electrifying Mojo and Jeff Mills, while paying his dues to Detroit’s rave scene. Plaslaiko was always a “note-taking trainspotter, hanging on every record from one to the next.” He quickly developed a reputation for avant-garde DJ sets, filled with sophistication and amazing track selction, which resulted in his first residency at Detroit’s legendary venue, Motor. Plaslaiko performed at the inaugural Detroit Electronic Music festival, and alongside Richie Hawtin, Ricardo Villalobos and other’s during the early part of his career. After sharing another residency with Matthew Dear in Detroit, Plaslaiko moved to New York and began his Bunker residency. This gig landed him the title of New York’s “Best Techno DJ,” according to a Village Voice poll. 2010 has been a landmark year for Plasliako as an artist, with his move to Berlin and a recently released EP on the Perc Tracks imprint.
Jeff Derringer, a newcomer to Chicago, via New York will be delivering a mix his own tracks, recently released on Perc Tracks, fused with Berghain inspired dark, dirty techno and house. Joining him will be Spy Bar favorite, Brandon Burke, who has recently appeared with the likes of Bruno Pronsato, Dubfire, and Konrad Black.. Max Jacobson is beginning to make a name for himself as a producer with releases on Shufflemood and Klectik, and local new-comer John Cue will round-out the line-up for the soiree.
