    Dubstep Mixes

I'd love to know if there is such a thing as a quality dubstep mix.

If you know of one, please share it.

    Cheers

May be some mixes of Dana Bergquist and Andreas Hansson and of course The cd 1 Of Hernan Cattaneo Parallel.

    Re: Dubstep Mixes

I occasionally venture into the ever so overwhelming world of dubstep, however there is one name that shines above the rest - Kontext

Dissociate is a brilliant record - a little ambient as well as dubstep...an insert from the reviews if you must -

Dissociate is a starkly beautiful album that stubbornly refuses to acknowledge it; one of those unfriendly albums that finds beauty in adversity, hope in hopelessness. Discarding any notions of accessibility or structure, its obtuse tracks average around the seven-to-eight minute mark, some being almost completely formless and offering nothing convenient to latch onto nor any touchstones on which to rely. Paradoxically, the album begins with one of its most straightforward tracks, the bleepy ‘Impossible Being’ which sounds a bit like a life support system, heart monitors beeping away, mysterious pistons firing off and defibrillators charging rhythmically. Almost like a robo-Mount Kimbie, the slabs of bass are adorned with microscopic percussion, but it pulses with something undeniably techno – if anything a bit more broken beat than proper dubstep – and its extended ambient midsection pretty much destroys any linear conception of style. ‘Bilinguism’ is appropriately two-dimensional, its rough, metallic extrusions occasionally giving way to stretches of skeletal, bare-essentials desert.

Let me know what you think florida, if you get a chance to preview this record.

I know I've heard parallel several times, and never made the connection of disc 1 being dubstep... thx for the reminder. Thx also to Nikoa and Dusk, will follow up on both those suggestions as well

I'm not sure what you mean (I'm a foreigner), but this a pretty good showcase of "good" aka post-dubstep.

I don't really like dubstep, but I really really like this mix. It's the only dubstep I like actually. His artist album Triangulation is very good too. I found a seemless version, so it's pretty much like a mix.

Music is the answer, to your problems. Keep on movin', till you solve them.

To be fair, my suggestion isn't that great as it only contains some dubstep

Dubstep was good in 2005. Everything since is just a bit yawn.

So the genre on a whole has already peaked and has been on the decline for the last 6 years?

It seems dubstep has taken off only recently. More artists and labels going around then 5 years ago, surely.

That's what I was thinking as well. There's gotta be some really good mixes out there.

Anyways back on topic... there is a blinder of a set by DFRNT but for the life of me I can't remember which podcast that was.... however there was a set posted by R_Co on soundcloud called Winter Music thats pretty nifty as well. Check it out florida, think you will like it.
