it was only a matter of time, and guess what, after this there will be something else to take over for soulseek, and there will another year or two of no action taken, and then they will shut them down again... it gets boring...

aboslutly. the riaa needs to come up with an alternate plan of action. otherwise they will continue running in circles trying to catch the filesharers.

a tip for those who dont know the system that well....

if you use soulseek, dont just do a search for commercial music, this is how they find you.
if you can help it, get it from someone you are buddies with.

                      Re: Filesharing - 'Significant escalation'

In Canada, there is a bit of grey area to copyright laws. You can download but upload is illegal. We pay a bit extra for recording media which is then used to fund musicians/songwriters etc.. for revenues lost due to downloading. Kinda fucked up but I think the Canadian version of the RIAA is lobbying to get that bit of the law changed.

As much as I hate the RIAA and lawers and sueing I hate people stealing music from poor EDM producers even more. File share DJ sets till the cows come home but PLEASE if you like a dance track just go drop the $1-2 on the track at Beatport or EDMDigital or where ever.
