Well, I'll be. Just noticed these new forums pop up :D
List places you know of that, in your honest opinion, have awesome customer service, prices, and shipping for gear (aside from the always-encompassing Ebay).
I, for one, shop here..it's close, free shipping, and the prices are as good if not better then any other place I've seen (and I've shopped through a lot of places)

How do you decide whether to goto CD or Vinyl? And for first timer, how do you build up a good vinyl collection quickly?

That decision's personal, and probably based on available budget...
Then start hitting up record sites for records or MP3's, listen to samples, and start buying those you think you like...or listen to DJ sets, find tracks you like, and go out and get them.
It'll take a few weeks either way to quickly build up a nice collection to start with...

I have to suggest American Musical Supply for getting gear...
1) Customer service is outstanding
2) They will match any competitors price
3) If you've screwed up your credit, (but still have a checking account), you can purchase items in 3 payments...not bad :)
In response to the CD or vinyl route... I started out with vinyl 10 years ago, have literally spent thousands on records, which now are sitting and collecting dust... Tunes get outdated rather quickly, especially these days. So, I decided to purchase a pair of CDJ-1000's: They respond just like my Technics, music is FAR cheaper, I'm always up to date with tunes without spending most of my paycheck, and one of the coolest things I like: When I (or a friend) finish a new track in the studio-they are ready to play :)
Hope this helps!
