At this point Sound Avenue would have to be in the running for Progressive house label of year. As the label grows and the artist roster expands the releases seem to get stronger and stronger. Their 14th release is out this week and it sees the debut of Dominique Heyninck's new Madloch alias. Dominque is one of the Sound Avenue owners and also half of the Mitrinique production duo who progressive house fans are sure to recognize with several great originals and remixes over the last year. Dominque's first production as Madloch is entitled 'Colorshock' and it comes with remixes from Paul Hazendonk and Marcelo Vasami.
The 'Colorshock' original kicks the package off with a deep, brooding vibe and some scattered percussive elements that sound absolutely deadly. Ominous atmospheric waves soon hover in the backdrop as the drums continue to get beefed up and the piece really begins to rock. Tension filled hypnotic lines build up around the framework as the breakdown approaches. Here a continually escalating synth mod raises some huge, spine tingling drama as a quick build reveals the smashing foundation of the track once more. Epic to say the least and a fabulous first outing for Dominique's Madloch guise.
The first remix on the package is from Paul Hazendonk who is making his debut on Sound Avenue here. The Dutch producer / DJ runs the excellent Manual Music, Stolen Moments and Cinematique labels and is a regular on the DJ circuit around Europe. Paul's productions contain a perfect blend of melodic techno and progressive house; and they always come with a uniquely fresh and inspiring sound. Paul's 2012 has been nothing short of spectacular thus far with releases on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat imprint, Eelke Kleijn's Outside The Box, Proton Music and of course his own Manual and Stolen Moments imprints. Paul's 'Colorshock' interpretation has a huge presence straight away with a big, wobbly, electric sounding bass line. Tone bending pads, impactful hits and haunting atmospheric accents surround the tracks framework as the composition builds. The middle section of the record presents some lovely key sequences that are both hypnotic and hook heavy. Paul`s mix is void of any real breakdown which makes it ideal for midset dance floor action and having already been charted by Hernan Cattaneo for October you know it's one not miss. Top work as always from Mr. Hazendonk.
The final remix is provided by the Buenos Aires based producer Marcelo Vasami who is making his debut on Sound Avenue here. Marcelo has been regarded as one of the top producers to come out of the massive collective of new school progressive house talent that Argentina has to offer. With appearances on Replug, Movement, Subtract and Bermudos. Marcelo is a producer that chooses his projects wisely and never over saturates the market with his sound making him constantly in demand. Marcelo's 'Colorshock' interpretation is an absolute monster; a brain teasing hypnotic beginning leads to the introduction of one of the biggest and most impactful bass lines we've heard in a long while. Thick undulating waves of character laden bass that carries with it a truly wicked groove. The way the bass line and hypnotic elements play off each other is absolute magic; perfectly flowing in unison for an unmatched momentum driven synergy. Easily one of Marcelo's biggest productions to date and having also been charted by Hernan (in September) it rounds out what is likely Sound Avenue's biggest release yet.
