    Release Notes:

    01. Paul Hazendonk & Noraj Cue - Recaptured ft. Patchy [Manual Music | free download]

This version was actually made exclusively for Paul Hazendonk's artist of the week mix on friskyRadio last fall, but the response was so good that we've now decided to give the track away for free via Soundcloud.

The intention when producing this song was to remix the 'Hazy Echoes' track which appeared on Paul's 'ADAPT' album and featured the vocals of London based singer/songwriter Patchy. However the Hazendonk/Cue duo ended up with a totally different song at the end, that's why we decided not to release it as a remix, but as a new song titled 'Recaptured'.

    02. Frank & Tony featuring Bob Moses - Holding On (Mariano Montori Boot) [Scissor and Thread | unreleased]

Original released in July 2013 [FAT004]. Portraying the New York label to its upmost, Frank & Tony bring a sense of class to deep house music. "Holding", is a collaboration between the duo and Bob Moses, who has recently been signed with the famous British label, Domino Records.

    03. Kevin Di Serna - Bless [unreleased]

Kevin Di Serna is an artist/producer who was born in Argentina. He grew up with musical influences from Depeche Mode, The Cure, Björk and Radiohead, to name a few. Kevin experimented with electronic music from very young age and in 2011 he started working as a producer, recording emotionally rich, high-impact soundtracks with a refined sound quality. He has been signed with labels such as Sudbeat and Alola Records.

    04. Dave DK - Smukke Lyde (Original Mix) [Kompakt | KOMPAKT 326]

An epic sonic journey crossing classic Kompakt territory - from Pop Ambient to tuneful techno and house -, VAL MAIRA is not just the extended follow-up to DAVE DK's much-adored PALMAILLE 12" (KOMPAKT 277), a release that already stood out for its almost uncanny emulation of Kompakt's more impressionist panoply, but a sonic achievement in its own right - a record as delicate as it is candid, deliberately showcasing all its strengths and dodges, but ultimately - magically - amounting to so much more than the mere sum of its parts. In many ways, VAL MAIRA is the perfect Kompakt record, albeit one that Kompakt never made. Until now.

Dave's third full-length after his 2007 album on Moodmusic and a debut on Müller Records in 2000, this new offering named after a valley in the Italian mountains goes beyond admittedly impressive production skills, aiming for deeply personal expressiveness and emotional impact. From the tender dawning of opener FADE IN to the solid dance chops of enticingly grooving cuts like SMUKKE LYDE, NUEVA CANCION or COOLETTE, the record's preoccupation with the mutual dependencies of harmony and discord is quickly revealed: "I've tried to create an interlocking atmosphere of merriment and melancholy for the full duration of an album", says the producer, not withholding his intention to create something beautiful: "I hope that one can hear a little bit of hope in the tracks, like everything's going to be fine."

You might be forgiven for taking this as a massive understatement, coming from someone who seems to know a fair deal about that elusive something called human warmth. "Although you can be incredibly creative thanks to limitless digital means, I think that the biggest challenge lies in creating a link to something human, generating feelings of warmth that reach and move the listener", says Dave - painting the picture of a highly reflective artist that spends much time with fine-tuning the emotional registry of his pallet, laboring vigorously over the concept of a track as he does over its sound design: "before anything else, I need an idea and a general notion of the development of a track - just jamming doesn't work well for me."

All the more surprising how all this planning and thinking translates into something as organic sounding and nearly self-emergent as HALMA, VEIRA or WHITEHILL, the latter featuring the distinctive (and decidedly human) vocals from PIPER DAVIS of Stimming fame.

One could very well describe these tracks as both intimate and sociable at the same time, a rare combination that might also account for the vivid sonic storytelling present in cuts like KRONSEE (referring to an actual lake near Dave's birthplace) or WE MIX AT SIX, the synaesthetic retelling of a delayed party at the beaches of Barcelona, where someone spray-painted the title's vital information on a t-shirt swaying in the summerly breeze. Heavily influenced by film soundtracks, drone sounds and organic noise, DAVE DK obviously feels very close to the perpetual atmospheric hum in between sounds, finding hooks and grannies in the tiniest nooks and crannies - and to hear these eleven tracks lovingly intertwining their inspirations while seemingly creating nutrient-rich textures and meaningful melodies out of thin ether remains a riveting experience even after the nth play-back.

    08. GMJ - Forgotten Wisdom (Rich Curtis Remix) [Particles | PSI1517]

The quintet of tracks that marked the "Forgotten Wisdom" EP saw Australia's GMJ forge another successful rung on an already growing ladder after the triumph of "Edge of Remembrance". Now Particles returns to the second EP with remixes from heavyweight Latvian and Australian, Particles debutants.

Latvian duo Edmunds Kasprovičs and Kristap Kārkliņš have been a revelation in the trance and progressive house genres since they debuted their Blood Groove and Kikis production soubriquet for Spring Tube in early 2010. Having initially met at a party, joining forces quickly became a clear signal of intent. Supported by the trance elite of Above and Beyond, Max Graham and Jaytech, their sound has cultivated a loyal fan base and unparalleled success. Signed to a whole host of impressive imprints including Nueva and Incepto, it is the pair's work for the Silk family of labels that included the hugely successful "Wonderland" album, debuting in March 2014 on Silk Digital. A limited CD edition sold out in weeks and the digital version went on to sell in its thousands.

After so many releases on labels within the Proton roster of talent, it is with huge pleasure that Particles welcomes Blood Groove and Kikis to Particles with a trademark remix of "Silent Love". Extracting elements of GMJ's melodic work, Edmunds and Kristap have transformed them in dazzling new patterns that shift and evolve in entirely new directions, backed by a strong beat and driving percussion, creating a work a passion and dynamism.

Rich Curtis is an artist that needs little introduction to the Proton music cognoscenti. A celebrated promoter, DJ and producer, Curtis has been responsible for bringing names such as Anthony Pappa and Hernan Cattaneo to his native Queensland. A multi-talented musician, Curtis' production work soon hit the headlines as a consistent track record that has seen him feature on Mesmeric, Indigo and Tulipa, has provided a steady stream of blue chip releases. A recent collaboration with Argentina's Dark Soul Project for Tim Penner's Slideways imprint has further cemented that reputation.

Work for Proton Music that has included remixes of Colourblock, Soulwerk and, most recently, Silinder, was further lit up by 2013's twin-track "Safety Thirst" EP. Remixed by no lesser light than Dousk, the EP provided a standout moment in an impressive career. Remixing for Particles for the first time, the Rich Curtis rework of GMJ's title track, see "Forgotten Wisdom" take a strong groove-oriented path with dominant kick and full percussive flow. As the track evolves, a beautiful arpeggio that has its roots in the original mix, shimmers and sparkles its ways across nine minutes of joy, juxtaposed with angular spot effects to create a work of class and elegance.

Remixes from two of the industry's finest names in Blood Groove and Kikis and Rich Curtis have provided GMJ with enough 'wisdom' to ensure their combined work is not 'forgotten'.
