oh come on man, I'm typically as skeptical as anyone, after the heart breaks of major tournaments, and I'm not even betting we'll win it all, but anyone can see we are not playing anywhere near the likes of Sven's or McClaren's teams,, we're crushing the lower teams, beating the good ones and finished top of our group rather than waiting til the final match to qualify.. Capello's major plus in running this team from day one is he doesnt give a shit who you are, unlike most of his predecessors who were afraid of the big name players and their wives/gf's
Couldn't agree more Steve, what a breath of fresh air it's been to have a manager who picks a team based on who is doing the business rather than what their name is.
The dirge served up under Mclaren seems a distant memory and i've started to enjoy watching team UK play again.
Sorry didn't mean to offend, if its any concilation, we havn't got a snowballs chance as the host!
as i said, it didnt offend me, not much does, just didn't find it funny
umbro blows nike away
heskey and terry are great players in their own right.. terry is one of the top 3 or 4 defenders in the world and heskey can play off the ball and shield as well as anyone and isnt meant to be a goal scorer
as for the kleenex thing, yeah, we've bowed out one too many times on pk's i'll give you that, lol
and unless that was made by someone from brazil the gold star thing can really go for 99% of the countries in the world
hey, SA has a better chance than at least 7 or 8 countries mate!
^While you guys in England pretty much sleep, eat and breath football, white South Africans do the same for Rugby.
Our predominently black population love the game of football and worship it as much as you guys.
In saying that Bafana Bafana have had really bad form of late, infighting over whether benni mccarthy is in/ is out, changing the national coach more often than I change my socks we are on a slippery slope to nowhere.
As the host nation everyone will be behind our team, but my second team will always be England, (whose base camp is Durban, my hometown).
I remember sitting in my local watching the 1996 quarters between England and Portugal and everyone in the pub felt the pain you guys felt after the shootout.
World Cups are special where anything can happen and the underdog is always cheered the loudest.
Maybe we can pull off a 1995 rugby world cup miracle as hosts but if not the game will still be the winner in the end.
The largest room in the world, is the room for improvement!
