I have a P4 2.8 processor and a Gigabyte GA-8HIXP, which I believe only supports 4x AGP. My plans are to upgrade the motherboard eventually. So you're saying that I won't be able to use the 850XT PE with this motherboard? I hear very good things about the X800XT though. I'm not one of these people who benchmark every day and overclock, so i'm sure the 800XT would be perfect for me.
sorry for interupting here but i went on the nvidia site tried looking for graphics cards ??!!!! where ???? i would like to see what cards possess nvidia chips cuz am into buying a card too but am a noob when it comes to hardware ..so any guidance

You can't get the 850XT then. The X800XT is your best bet...but if you're not one of those people who benchmark and OC everyday, then why not just go for a Geforce 6800GT?? That card probably gives you the best performance you could get for your money. Amazing out-of-the-box numbers, and it can very very VERY easily be overclocked to 6800Ultra speeds (you pay $100 less, and get same performance).
It also depends on what type of games you want to run, nVidia cards tend to run the OpenGL games (Doom3) better and ATI cards tend to run the DirectX games (HL2) better.
I'm in the process of building myself a new pc and even though I've always been a nVidia person, I'll probably get an ATI card simply because I'm planning on playing ALOT of HL2. And I'm hoping ATI makes those x800XL's available real soon. Those look real sweet and give the 6800GT's a run for their money at $100 less.
