Important, I think, to try to make them as positive as possible. not hard to do when you have a smiling baby or toddler to wake up to. Since getting this cat, I usually have cat poo right beside the litter box on the rug in the laundry room to clean up in the mornings -- gross.
One night, we were talking about happiness and how important it is to start each day finding something to be happy/grateful for and my husband said "Speaking of happiness, the cat left some in the laundry room." ... I laughed so hard, we now call it "happiness" every time the cat makes a pile for me to clean up. (Hubs has the job of cleaning up the dog doo.) So, before walking out the door for school "Wait, there's some happiness I need to clean up." reduces the disgusting nuisance factor for everyone, including me.
