I saw this a while back. It is definately a must see movie. Very brutal and viceral but that is the way things are in Brazil..

Awesome movie!!! True, is't violent but that's real life for those kids in brazil...

Original in every way: story of 30 years!!!, great caracters, nice/funny beginning (chicken escapes bbq),....

Just picked up City of Men the sequel.

Sorry to correct but this ain't a sequel. It's the miniseries (9 episodes) which includes some of the cast and is made by the same people who did City of God.

Anyway it easily stands up against the film, usually quite cheap to buy aswell.

Yes, "City of God" is an incredible movie. In New York City, it played in theatres for over a year, despite it's release on DVD.

Another great film, about kids surviving in a diificult environment is a film from Iraq called "Turtles Can Fly". Find it & watch it, & I promise you will never forget it.
