Just wanted to add - Kung Fu Panda 3 and The Good Dinosaur to this list... the soundtrack and cinematograpy for the good dinasour is outstanding! This movie is so visually stunning.. I find it even better than the story line... however... my 3 year old's attention span is not as long as these movies are
Just got "An American Tail" on dvd... these movies are so well illustrated .... also directed by Steven Speilberg. The "Fievel Goes West" film is kind of a trip too, recommended viewing if you haven't since you were a kid.

- Spielberg's TinTin is certainly at the top of my list
- Finding Nemo (what an inspirational movie for a child to understand father's love)
- All the Shreks
- KungFu Panda (the first one)
- Incredibles
- Lion King (the first one)
- Toy Story
- Mulan (the first one)
- The Fox and the Hound
- Jungle Book
I'm glad to see some Miyazaki love in this thread! I love his movies! If you child is into adventure stories Castle In The Sky by Miyazaki is great. I'd say its along the same lines as Howls Moving Castle. How old is your kid Florida?
And here's one of my favorite anime movies Paprika, its not for kids though. It's a real visual and mental trip about the dream world combining with the real world. It's wildly imaginative like Miyazaki's Sprited Away. Paprika Trailer (HD 1080p) - YouTube
So my experience with Anime is extremely limited. It's kind of a new world to me actually.... do you have any suggestions? The only cartoon movie or tv show rather that I liked was "aeon flux."
Btw.. when your boy is older... (maybe around 7) definitely get him to watch Titan AE (2000) and Appleseed (2004) ... I never get tired of watching those 2 movies.
just realized these animated movies are not all for kids. I saw 101 Dalmatians and just assumed.
lol... I was about to add... Akira is definitely not for kids I still have an original DVD in shrink wrap because I love Akira so much.
Howl's moving castle is another fav of my 5 year old that I had forgotten to mention.. and a bug's life... which used to me my personal fav.... I may have watched it a million times... Ants never really compared to it for some reason. Even though the girls enjoy ants.
And yes florida.. kids are very visual learners hence we really gotta be mindful of what they watch... I used to be over the moon when my eldest was 2- 3years old and hated watching TV (it never really interested her) ..now that she's 5 she is glued.
