Re: which mp3 player?
Can the iPod hold any type of files to use as an external drive?
I've heard both yes and no.

You can't have manslaughter without laughter.
"Son," he said without preamble, "never trust a man who doesn't drink because he's probably a self-righteous sort, a man who thinks he knows right from wrong all the time. Some of them are good men, but in the name of goodness, they cause most of the suffering in the world. They're the judges, the meddlers. And, son, never trust a man who drinks but refuses to get drunk. They're usually afraid of something deep down inside, either that they're a coward or a fool or mean and violent. You can't trust a man who's afraid of himself. But sometimes, son, you can trust a man who occasionally kneels before a toilet. The chances are that he is learning something about humility and his natural human foolishness, about how to survive himself. It's damned hard for a man to take himself too seriously when he's heaving his guts into a dirty toilet bowl." -

Re: which mp3 player?
I have a mini and use it as a drive. Use it as my main drive now for all of my projects. Another great feature that most people don't use.Originally posted by MJDub
The mini has 2 synch modes: auto and manual. In manual mode, it will work as a drive by default. In auto mode, you have to enable it to work as a drive in preferences. In itunes go to preferences (CTRL+,) and then the iPod tab. Disk use checkbox is on the 'general' subtab.Comment

Im thinking of getting the ipod mini 6GB. Bigger ipods are too big for me and I also hate how the get all scratched. It really repends on how much music you want to get with you and also how much money you want to spend. I wouldnt go to far away from apple... the zen micro is also a nice choice if you?re looking for something small.Comment

Re: which mp3 player?
Hey, Clausen
Long time no speak, man... hows it going?
I recently bought that little thinggy:
It?s actually #1 at 3 German test-magazines and has
- 1 GB space on a card (enough for 10 albums)
- integrated radio
- record-function (records from radio, mic, line-in)
- usable as a USB-stick for all data-types (appears like an external harddisc)
- file copy via drag-and-drop
- equalizer
- 2 headphone-outputs for dual use
- an enourmous output-volume and sound, especially with that SRS-WOW-effect
- 25hours (!) non-stop-playing with one accu-filling
- Sennheiser headphones
- only 40g weight
- and is very small
- costs about 170 Euro
I?m very happy with it..
Cheers
Guenther
edit:
That thing plays all sorts of MP3, WMA, OGG, WAV and can hadle DRM-files.

Re: which mp3 player?
I believe from www.tigerdirect.com that apple just lowered the prices on the Ipods. From 300 for the 20 gig down to 250 for the same 20 gigs. I can dig that. But i'd rather spend $200 for a 202 gig.Comment

Re: which mp3 player?
FYI - Price Cuts
"Apple is selling two versions of the white iPod: a 20-gigabyte version now with a color screen for $299 and a 60-gigabyte color model that was cut to $399 from $449. Apple also dropped the price of the 1-gigabyte iPod shuffle to $129 from $149, the company said Tuesday."
The color screen looks pretty cool too...
I have the 4G 20GB and i'm happy with it and all...but at the end of the day, it's an mp3 player and it's all about what's in it....
I don't know about you all, but I have 19GB of top-shelf, high-quality, wicked azz sets.Comment
