the Last King of Scotland

[res0nat0r]

This has nothing to do with Scotland, it is about true events in Uganda with Idi Amin.
Forrest Whittaker looks like he is going to be great in this flick, hopefully he will get the props he deserves, because this flick looks really good.

Re: the Last King of Scotland

Re: the Last King of Scotland

humm try this..

http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox_searchlight/thelastkingofscotland/hd/

i think it is because the main character from this movie is from scotland, and idi amin makes him his personal assistant/doctor, so he is kind of like a king in uganda under amins rule.

General Idi Amin Dada : A Self Portrait (1974) [The Criterion Collection]

In 1971, the small African nation of Uganda was taken over by self-styled dictator General Idi Amin Dada, beginning an eight-year reign of terror that would result in the deaths of hundreds of thousands. In this chilling yet darkly comic documentary, director Barbet Schroeder turns his cameras on the infamous tyrant, revealing the dynamic, charming, and appallingly dangerous man whose fanatical neuroses held an entire nation in their grip. Made with the full support and participation of the infamous dictator, General Idi Amin Dada provides a candid and disturbing portrait of one of the 20th century’s most notorious figures.

Re: the Last King of Scotland

Many historians say that Idi used to cut his opponents heads eat some of their body meat, sits down on his office and have long conversations with the heads. Can't wait to see this one .

Re: the Last King of Scotland

Yeah I just picked this up last week. As mentioned in another thread, if you want to see another perspective of the event at the airport, theres an older 70's flick about " Operation Thunderbolt" that took place by the Israeli government to retriev the jewish hostages. By seeing that movie first actually made Last king of scotland that much better. Overall , kickass movie.
