    i love my Son y MZ-N505...
i transfer the tracks at 32x from my pc, and use the MD with LP4, allowing 5 hours of music

Call me old fashioned ... but I love my Technics MD deck which comes complete with a timer ... so I can go clubbing/boozing and still not miss my favourite shows. Plus my Sony portable MD still rocks.

Nevertheless, I'm considering buying one of those i-Pod things to port around the stuff off my pc. Maybe Santa will get me one.

    Re: mini disc players

as mensioned above, forget mp3 to minidisk....

sony tend to do this atrac thing to stop you from giving your music to someoneelse (since sony is a record label also).

the same goes with their solid state music player products (memory stick based).

Best thing to do mate, is buy an apple ipod...if you are enjoying your md player, could not imagine how much you will enjoy the ipod

    hope this helps

Forget doing MP3 directly on a Minidisc - even with the new HiMD format it's still all ATRAC based. Of course you can store the MP3 files on there - you just can't play them natively.

I just bought a new HiMD unit, which is being used as part portable music player, part portable storage and part backup to my portable DAT recorder. Everything's going pretty nicely at the moment.

The hard part seems to be getting the HiMD disks.. Sony's got some global supply issues, I believe.

Mind you, you can format the normal MD's to 300MB - but the HiMD's are 1 gig each. Plenty of room to move, especially with the new ATRAC3Plus 256kbit to preserve that audio quality.

    mini disc players

what ever happened to the minidisc movement? i absolutely love my minidisc player i bought at best buy a year ago! i see now that they are mostly on clearance! the one i bought retailed 189.99 new & is currently clearance @ 89.99! its water proof & everything great buy!!! if i didn't already have one id buy it again! the only draw back i see is how you have to convert everything to sony atrac format. is there a work arround hack that anyone knows of or is atrac as condensed a format as wma or mp3
Working...
