    Re: God

Depends upon how you define "God." I definitely do not believe in the version of God that envisions some supernatural being sitting on high, passing judgment on our actions and determining whether we go to heaven or hell when we die. I also think that 99% of organized religion is a complete farce. It always amazes me to see people that live horrible lives but think that spending 1 hour a week going through ritualistic BS excuses that. Ever go to church and watch people just totally go through the motions? Kneel here, mumble this, eat this and wash it down with grape juice, all cured. It's asinine.

With that said, I don't necessarily think that things in the universe are completely random. I guess I have a sense that there is some unseen force or energy that guides things, and that on some level, we have some control over our own situation. Ever notice how some people seem to have nothing but good fortune, while others seem to constantly be fighting adversity? I don't think that's the result of chance. To the extent that there's really no rational explanation for any of that, and that it's probably not rational for me to think of it, some people might equate that in a belief in a higher power. I'm not sure where I come down on that, honestly.

At the end of the day, though, I think that regardless of the source, many of the messages taught by the religions of the world -- love, respect, tolerance, doing unto others, etc. -- are worthwhile. The big difference for me is that I make an effort to make those principles a part of my day-to-day existence, not just something I do for an hour a week at a specific place.

    My $.02

but they were created in Gods image so God is a child molester, right?

i totally understand your point. i'm only arguing for the sake of discussion.

Damn Jib, you are a better person than most..

I'm not sure I believe in God..I do believe in doing good and helping others...Expecting nothing, and just being the best human being that I can possibly be...That's what I believe in.

another thing, i don't think "god" gave us feelings per se. i think humans experience emotions based on their own belief system and generally care for one another without having to submit to a "belief in a god"

ultimately i believe there are other planets out there with life forms - alien or human, whatever. seems like we are completely unevolved since all we do is kill one another and pay attention to idiots like britney spears and what color underwear she wore last week.

we are too simple and i just don't believe we are the only so-called "intelligent" beings in this universe.

I wonder if God sits there all day pondering who created him and what his purpose is

I think it's funny that God thinks his purpose is to make everyone believe he's a god

Where in the Bible does it state that we were created two-thousand years ago? I've never read that before.

No offense but I am sure glad the majority of the 6.5 billion of us do believe in "God", with over 30% claiming Christianity.

I think there is a God and I really couldn't tell you why. He sits up there watching and does not interfere and we're merely his entertainment. People that leave everything up to God are retarded but then that's why we have make believe countries like Canada.
