Your event sounds awesome, I would love to catch it if I were in Japan.Hi poorimpulsectri,
For this year's I did actually book a dubby set from the LSD label. We had ABAKUS play a live set Saturday afternoon after the last dance dj, and then Russell Davies also played a dubby ambient set afterwards. Worked wonders! As soon as Abakus started his set, the mist came in off the mountain and totally enveloped the dance floor.
And to everyone else, BIG THANKX for all the recommendations. I'm busy downloading a bunch of stuff now and checking sites...Leave a comment:

Re: "trippy and druggie" dj's wanted!
I'd highly recommend booking anyone from the Liquid Sound Design label to do a Live PA (if they do that). Psychedelic dub is some of the trippiest music I've heard, although given that your event used to be more psychedelic oriented I'm guessing you may already be familiar with the likes of Simon Posford, Youth, etc.Leave a comment:

Re: "trippy and druggie" dj's wanted!
Not sure if I'm too late on this one (3 pages - too many to readLooking for recommnedations for world-class dj's.
I do a very underground outdoor event in Japan that's based around psychedelic dance music. Our music used to feature lots of psytrance, but now it's more progressive house than anything else. Kasey Taylor played the final 4 hours of this year's party and blew everybody away.
I'm always on the lookout for new dj's. The stuff that works has to be deep and trippy and druggy, no commercial vibe/vocals. More "mountain music" than "club music". It can be fast or slow as long as it's serious and plays with your mind!
Do anyone have any recommendations from the trance/progressive/tech-house/techno scenes?
), but drop me a mail paul@paullouth.com and check my site http://www.paullouth.com
Also check out my latest mix (from 20mins in onwards is probably what you're after): http://mp3.4four.org/PaulLouth_Haus_Sept2004.mp3

Yep played alongside him a few times at The Cross in London. And yes he's good at varying his sets, when he's played before or after me he always goes a bit more techy to go more with my style. It's nice to see a DJ put effort into complementing the people he's playing withAny of you seen Chris play?

Does anyone have any Sean Cusick sets they'd be willing to burn and drop in the mail to me? (I'm a mac user so I don't have soulseek.) I'd be happy to send you some cash for your trouble. PM if you're interested.
And Scott, you're right, our crowd comes for the event name, not the dj's. For the most part they don't have the slightest idea who the dj's are, especially not big name club dj's.Leave a comment:

sean cusick sean cusick sean cusick. grab a hold of the set he did for the b-sides, i think it's exactly the kind of thing you're looking for.
and for that matter, check out some of deepdarkfunky's sets from this board.

my personal record is 5 days of nothing but drugs and vodka.
11am of the 5th day I lost ability to beat match correctly and I could only talk in tounge.
I think I lost about 5 pounds -- and I have no idea why they let me on my airplane.
I was breathing really heavy and sweating the entire flight -- I was inbetween two poor black ladies.
then the friggin airline almost lost my records....
man never againLeave a comment:

Re: "trippy and druggie" dj's wanted!
i just hosted sean the other night and he was great. it sounds like you already have a built in crowd for your event in which case i dont think you need to use such a big name. i've heard plenty of others just as good that wont charge you an arm and a leg. if you can get him to play for free that is best, thats what i do, but then again these guys have been asking me to play my party.Leave a comment:
