Maybe somebody in here has some clue how to resolve this problem. I have a new PC running Vista Ultimate 32bit on it (64bit still causes problems with some games and that's the only reason i got the 32bit version). I got used to Vista and set up everything but there is one problem left. I regularly convert WMV videos to AVI or MPEG because my bloody DVD Player can't play WMV files. To convert, I use a freeware software called All to Avi you can get from Sourceforge. When I installed it on Vista, I was able to convert a few files but then suddenly a pop up window came up telling me "Mencoder.exe is not functional anymore". The Microsoft hint was to use an updated Win32 driver but it did not fix the problem. I can convert files again but All to AVI does not recognize the width and heigth anymore so I can forget about getting a good result. I also tried to convert a file with good ole Nero but it seems Nero is using the same decoder so it does not work either.
I saw a posting on a forum telling that the user account control can cause this but even when I turn it off, I still have the same problem. Did anybody experience the same and has a solution? Or can tell me a free program for Vista (besides SUPER, tried it already) that uses a different encoder that actualy WORKS with fucking Vista?
