Im considering picking up DJing as a hobby in the future. If any of you guys know DJ equipment and can give me entry level DJ equipment recommendations it would be really appreciated.

get the cheaper traktor kontrol...decks will all be obsolete soon...and I think it works out cheaper than buying decks that are any half decent.

Thanks sbando. I've been playing around with virtualDJ on and off now for a while now. It's fun to mix and my mixes sound half decent to me, listenable like a generic radio show. Yeah there's definitely a lot to learn. I'll try to read that DJ book. It's just pretty annoying to mix on a keyboard + mouse, I feel like I'd have a lot more fun using actually equipment. Maybe I better play with virtualdj some more before stepping up to actual equipment though.

If you were looking for hardware mixing to begin with, maybe hardware is what you should get.

Well I do have a DJing for Dummies pdf I downloaded. I'll take a read and play around with the virtualDJ i have first before getting hardware. I don't want to buy a software because my laptop is terrible and I don't trust it. Last time I used it to play around with my friend's Serato Itch and his Numark controller, it caused the songs to skip all the time.
