    Torrent fiends rejoice

Western Digital has both announced and started shipping their 5th generation Caviar Green hard drive. Of course the major highlight this time around is the monster 3TB capacity, a first for internal 3.5" hard drives. WD accomplishes this feat by leveraging Advanced Format and four 750GB platters. In addition to the 3TB model (WD30EZRSDTL) there’s

i stopped by Wester Digital's HQ the other day and discussed my warranty options and other matters. some day i want to make a rather expensive investment in SCSI to become the arbiter of all my drives.

Re: 3TB internals on the way

I just bought a 2TB internal, got it in the mail yesterday. Plugged it into my system today along with a new PCI SATA controller, shut my case, and snapped the plastic piece from the SATA serial pin right off the fn drive. The metal pins are still there, so I think it might be ok...

I ended up having to get out my dremel and tin snips to cut out a large portion of metal from this fn computer. I think the drive is still usable, but it looks like this drive will forever be paired with this cable that still has the plastic inside!
