If somebody told me in 2002 that my simple Google search for a possibility to listen to Digweed’s Kiss100 show will lead to what happened after I stumbled over a site called Mercuryserver.com I would have just laughed. I can't believe what we have done in the past five years because this equals an eternity in Internet standards. But I also can’t believe we talk ONLY about five years. When I recall what happened the last five years both on and around our website(s) and in my private life it almost feels like an entire Life I lived. I experienced things I never thought I would and talked to and met interesting people and artists and also made friendships all around the Globe.

I am really thankful for the last five years because I did something I believed in and had a chance to express my passion for music which is a key element in my Life. All in all I had a hell of a time doing this because [ms] was different the day I saw it first and still is…raw and disgusting but at the same time charming and funny and even the dramas are unique most of the time. Thanks to everybody who supported Mercuryserver and helped us in the past making it what is it - be it our team members or the artists we feature or the members that make this site as special for me as it is. Kudos to all of you.

To make this day something special also for you we have amazing exclusive mixes from artists which we supported over the years and are a part the [ms] community as far as we see it. Their mixes will not be made available on our download page but directly in this post so everybody can enjoy them without limitations.

We also spoil you with cool prizes you can win if you answer most answers in our official Mercuryserver 5th anniversary quiz right. Check out the other sticky thread on top of this forum for more info.

Very soon we will also have the 2007 edition of Mercuryserver shirts ready for you and in opposite to most movies, our 2nd generation is not worse than the first edition from 2005.

Last but not least we raised the limit of downloads of any sets posted on our download page significantly so from today on it should happen less that you see the disappointing “Too many members are downloading please try again later” message.

Onward and upward and Happy birthday, [ms]

Thanks to our NYC connection Alex and Noah who are with us since several years already. We feature their mixes regularly here to remind people that they are good at what they are doing and so far the feedback from our members was always good so we hope you will enjoy this one as well. Their website has just been revamped from Yao so check it out.

What can I say..Luke is into the scene not only since yesterday and surely belongs to the elite of EDM DJs we know and appreciate. Thanks to a cooperation with Barney from [Only registered and activated users can see links] ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) and Luke we feature his mixes since early 2004 already and it was always an honour for us to help a little with promotion. John played Luke's guest mixes in 2001, 2003, 2! times in 2005 and 2007 on his Kiss100/Transitions and I am sure it wasn't the last time we will hear him mumble Luke's name. Though Luke made himself quite a name he posts here like he is Joe Average from next door without you think he lives in another world or is only here to copy and paste promotional info and that's just the way we like it. I still remember his 1st post on this board and had to dig it out.

just registered...thought I was logged in when i posted. Oopsy...

Thanks again!!!

Sorry Luke.

His Balance 011 CD will be out in May in Europe and we hope this mix is an inspiration to check it out. Thanks for giving us an exclusive mix recorded live from Pacha, Buenos Aires on March 10 2007 for our 5th birthday and all the best for your future.

I have been a huge fan of Hernan since 2001 and when I saw him live for the first time in Cologne in 2002 warming up for Paul Oakenfold he blew me away completely - especially because this kind of sound was all new to me at this time and it was a kind of eye opening evening for me. Last year I met him in person and he is really like everybody told...both feet on the ground and very nice and polite without any superstar DJ attitude and he always has a minute for his fans. We are honored to host his Metrodance show here on Mercuryserver for almost two years to make it available to a broader and international audience. Many thanks to Hernan for finding the time to support us on this special day.

Maybe you think wow a new mix from Hernan but that's not it already. On May 7th, 2007 his new 2xCD "Renaissance Presents: Hernan Cattaneo - Sequential 2" will be available in stores and he was kind enough to give us his new Renaissance promo before it will be made available to others so many thanks again.

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

"Hernan Cattaneo presents the latest instalment in his Sequential series. Two discs of expertly blended house that once again demonstrate his diversity, impeccable sourcing and unparalleled mixing ability.

With over 120 dates a year, Hernan Cattaneo is undoubtedly one of the busiest DJs in the world - not to mention one of the best. If proof were needed look no further than the latest volume in his Sequential series, an incredible double-mix CD that demonstrates why he’s regarded as one of the world’s best DJs and the undisputed peoples champion in his native South America.

Renowned for his smooth mixing and programming, Sequential Vol.2 sees Hernan draw on his far-reaching diary to feature a global array of tracks from Scandinavia, Holland, Germany, Israel, Greece and Argentina (of course!), alongside the obligatory stalwarts from England and America. The music itself naturally mirrors this diverse approach, expertly interpreting and marrying a Martin Buttrich remix with Israels Chaim or Romanias Livio and Roby with Nic Fanciulli’s masterful remix of Francois DuBois, just to highlight a few of the many moments contained within. Hernan elaborates, (this is) a mix that mirrors Vol.1, beginning on an atmospheric, emotive tip, rising toward more peak-time fare. Along the way, I hope to have captured (the aforementioned) diversity, alongside a few pleasant surprises and, most importantly, a true reflection of my current sound.

And what a privileged sound it is; beyond an original production and intro remix from Hernan and studio partner John Tonks, he has also sourced 4 other tracks from friends who, at his behest, produced them exclusively for the album. The result a whopping 6 exclusives serves to further distinguish the compilation from the crowd, in particular, the ever-increasing bootleg culture of live mix sets."

Hernan Cattaneo - Sequential 2 tracklist:

CD1:

1. Blue Foundation – Sweep (Hernan Cattaneo & John Tonks Little Intro Mix)
2. Crowdpleaser & St. Plomb – 18 Years
3. Livio & Roby Feat. George G – Monochrome (Reprise)
4. Fran?ois DuBois - I Try (Nic Fanciulli Remix)
5 Hernan Cattaneo & John Tonks – Anime (Sequential Mix)
6. Xplore – Time Travel
7. DP6 – Summer Time
8. Kosmas Epsilon – Paranoid (Eelke Kleijn Remix)
9. 16 Bit Lolitas – Goodbye Pluto
10. Guy J – Agent Blue
11. Itamar Sagi - Sparta (Original Mix)
12. X-Green – In Place Solo

Many thanks to Moshic for providing us with a recording from a live gig from last weekend where he played at the Escape club in Bulgaria which makes our 5th anniversary aural feast complete. We support Moshic since 2002 and vice versa and though he has little time he always checks our site and responds to questions from fans. He is just the nicest guy on earth and - no matter how many years have passed - still a proud member of the underground and doing it for the love of Music just like we do. Viva la underground and Kudos to you, Moshic.

Kintar and Rex are the artists I am personally involved most with because they play exactly the style I want to listen to and get carried away with every time I put my Ipod on. I enjoy mixes from all artists we host and many of them blew me away but Kintar & Rex' mixes will always be something special for me and an aural feast whenever I get to hear a new one. First of all, many thanks to Kintar and Rex for supporting the [ms] community with an exclusive mix and thanks for the hours you sent me to another world. Also thanks to club Pasha , DJ Bookings and Sudam Recordings for making this possible.

Another duo from New York City who DJ and produce/remix their own tracks but are even longer with us than Holosound. Their Morhaus mixes have created quite a stir on the internet whenever a new one came out and Mac and Ali will always find a ready welcome here. So far they were featured three times (2002, 2003 and 2005) on John Digweed's Kiss100/Transitions show so they must be doing something right. Thanks for your ongoing support and unique mixes guys. Ali told Kamal that this mix is full of unreleased material so look forward to it, girls and boys.

When putting his post together, Tom actually asked me to sort of proof it (yea I know, one blind man leading another in a language not native to either one  ) but having read what he said, I felt even changing a word or a comma in it would take away the emotion that he put into it when wrote about [ms].

And I for one believe every word of what he said.

It only seems like yesterday, the "seeds" of where we are today were being sown. It seemed every step of the way, there was a challenge we were trying to overcome, and overcome it we did.

Starting from me trying to find Kiss 100 shows on the internet, running into Audio Galaxy, finding Ahmed's Kiss 100 group, discussing the potential of setting up a regular distribution method for the Kiss shows, running into a majority of the team members who are still with us, trial and error of so many different platforms to host the music, then looking for a place to chitty chat once AG kicked the bucket, to Sheppie's simple 1 line chat program which cued conversations for a 24 hour period and finally running into phpBB, getting mercuryserver.com domain from Algy...to eventually where we are this glorious day.... 5 long eventful years later......

jesus... looking back I realize it wasn't easy .... but never looking back at it as a hurdle rather than a challenge every step of the way has lead us to where we stand, from the friendships we share with so many, I feel privileged to share this place with friends from such diverse backgrounds and all walks of life.

I thank you for being a part of MercuryServer from the bottom of my heart and I only hope we can continue to make this place as comfortable and easy going for everyone possible.

As I've said it before, until the end, there will always remain....

I was on soulseek one night leeching some prog from a friendly dude called Sheppie, we were chatting about various things when he said "Do you know about MS?" "MS" I replied "Yeah MercuryServer" he said. Thats was almost 4 years ago and I'm still here now.

Over the next few years my love for MS grew and grew.

I have seen members come and go but there has always been a group of people that were so devoted to the site that they have put it where it is now. Having met almost every Moderator and quite a few members it's true to say that they are as genuine and kind in real life as they are on this board and it was a pleasure to meet you.

I have many memories that stick out for me over these years, none more so than famous MS ver1.0 crash. Life at that time seemed to stop for us all and my sausage fingers were stuck for something to do for more time than I could care to imagine. Who could ever forget the comical [YOU] I remember the first time I saw it in Kamal's signature "MJ, if you need to see the FAQ's click this link" Me, a seasoned MS pro needing to read the FAQ's? I was straight into the PM'ing to ask what was going on.... Yes I was one of the many that was taken in. <-- if you don't know what I'm talking about I'm sure [YOU] will tell you

WMC 2006, man what a week that was, meeting up and staying with Jib and Pickle, having two guys you've never met before treat you like their one of their best friend was awesome. Then in the same week meeting nearly every other Mod and countless MS members was a time that will stick with me for a very long time.

And all this from a message board. I have friends that look at me funny when I say I post on an internet site almost everyday, they fail to see what the attraction can be. The posts above and the posts that are to come in this thread are just the reason I am here.

So we are 5 years old, 5 years of ups and downs, 5 years of laughs, sadness and 5 years of total enjoyment.

Here's to 5 years of MS.... and here's to 5 more

man i dont know what to say, i just personally gave my thoughts to kamal and tomtom on msn and it turns out that tomtom wasnt actually admin right from the start ( bloody german peasants  ) but in all honesty that doesnt matter as for me the 2 go hand in hand in making this forum one of the best on the web and it means a lot to me to be part of such an amazing place and i know i can speak for about 90 % of the members here when i say that i honestly would be lost without this place, u guys have no idea what it meens to me to be able to participate in making this forum what it is each week ( although i,m partial to the odd screw up lmao ), in all honesty i have more posts in this dam place than i have on any other forum ( for u people that know me that may come as a surprise ) and this is due to such a thriving and god dam fun community to be around, all i can say is that long may it live and continue to thrive in the way it has been :D

i wish u all the best

Bloody hell 5-years - I found [ms] in 2003 and it has fueled the fire within me for checking out progressive sounds and also opening my ears to new artists. Its great to have a forum that shares my passion and really captures my imagination - plus you couldn't wish to meat a better bunch of people to from the Founders/Admins/Mods to the forum participants. I remember when I used to troll Soul seek for the hernan resident sets and someone pointed me towards [MS]. I was like a kid in a candy shop when I saw that I could download the latest sets here EVERY week. I was giddy. After my first post here, probably close to two years ago now, Jibs responded "welcome, get ready for the addiction". He wasn't kidding. I try to explain why this site is so great to my wife but she just looks at me quizzically, like when I try to talk her into trying video games and threesomes with her sister :). I think you have to be a part of it to understand how great it really is.... I've never met any of you but I feel like I know you none the less.

Anyways, now commencing my "Happy birthday Mr. Mercury Server" strip tease...

I Was part of the Audiogalaxy crew - and hit MS after AG collapsed. I don?t think it was day one, but fairly promptly.
One of my first posts was regarding the pronunciation of 'peossy' hehe

I remember being introduced to Jonathon Lisle promo sets fairly soon.
That led to sharing the world with TomTom, Jibs and Sheppie (plus a whole host of others) on SS.
The passwords, the HJsplit calamity (I could never get them to work) - TomToms special sets every Tuesday....
Then came the mighty CRASH and loss of database - but we'll move quickly over that.
And continuing to find new music through word of mouth: TomTom introducing me to Kintar and Rex long ago, discovering LES thru the board.
The first (?only) members mixes - DayandNight stole the show in my book, but didn?t win. I always liked NigelMarcussen sets too (whatever happened to him).
And now to the new breed with Holosound shakin and groovin.
Yea, MS was always about good music. (Now its got added boobies too)

Maybe at some point in the next 5 years, we might even get a new Steve James set :)

Thanks to all for many wasted hours of nonsense, but also for some amazing music.

Cheers Luke, Hernan, Holosound, LES & K+R for the Birthday sets.

Thanks to K and T for the community. What a community@!

(sorry about the colour, it f'd up on transfer from WORD!)

Having been addicted to Digweed's Kiss show while living in the UK, when I moved out here I was desperate to hear recordings of it - that's how I came across [MS] in 2003.

Since then my musical tastes have been influenced by the recommendations of many of you here.

Thanks for all that you peeps have done and heres to another 5 wonderful years.

I was part of this site a long time ago, I think since about 2003 or 2004, then I lost my account's password. However, I really do appreciate all that has been done by this site, for all those years i've been browsing it. A big thank you goes to the people that work behind the scenes of this site. :)

I'm almost here for 3 yrs. Thats hard to believe really. When I started, a link on a Dj site brought me here. I knew little about this scene, but wanted/needed proggy music. I didn't know the genre names, or their sounds, but I knew what I liked to hear. After a while I learned it was progressive sound genre that made me the happiest.

Thanks mercuryserver, TomTom, Kamal, and the moderators for all you guys do to keep this forum a 'happening' place to be for top music sound. :)

^^^ these guys are unbelievable. thanks to you, i would probably never have discoverd them. now they are my favorite djs. there sounds are at the top for me.

and they certainly didnt dissapoint with there birthday mix...phenominal...... hope it turns others on bcuz this type of music is where its at imo.

napster--> audiogalaxy-->MS

Wow...5 years. I got started much the same way as some of you. I caught the tale end of Audiogalaxy and found myself on Soulseek. In searching for a Digweed set I found a file Kiss 100 (xx.xx.200x)- John Digweed .mercuryserver.com.mp3. I have been here ever since. Though i don't comment a lot in this forum, I do scour to see what music is out there and do comment on a set once in while. Thank you MS...thanks Tom Tom<--damn you are old...glad to see someone older than me. hahaha.

BTW, I know I was on here well before June 2004...before the domain name was lost and all that. It's gotta be at least 2003 or maybe 2002. Where's Beanzncheez?

i love this place so much!! the dedication of all the people who keep [ms] running is amazing. the community on here is great. everyday when i am on here, i am laughing out loud at some post by somebody.

Mercury Server has so much to proud of. 5 years. wow! i got hear by word-of-mouth from someone (don't remember who) after napster & audio galaxy left. once i found this place, i told everyone i could about it, so it is really nice to see a lot of good friends that have now been here for quite a while.

enough rambling by me, i will just say that the dedication by all who run this site is amazing & very inspiring. we should all be so dedicated in all that we do in life.

Happy Birthday to Mercury Server. may you live forever. peace to all.

First, a big happy birthday to the MS crew. I've never had the chance to hang with any of you due to schedule conflicts, family issues the odd occasional flying hockey puck to the head etc..... but the kinship this board cultivates is truly the best thing going for it aside from the music. We joke, laugh and share stories. We wait for a noob to be hazed by beanz. We laugh at Sean's play by play postings of work while he's with a client. We revel at each others cars, dj and studio setups. We share our passions for our sports and our political leanings. We tell stories of family, friends and those we have lost. And where would we be without Jan sharing Erzina's boobs ;)? We share all of this as well as the one thing that ties it all together, the music. This isn't just an electronic music board, it's a family, and one that I'm proud to be an adopted member of... Raise a pint all and blow out the candles. Happy birthday Mercuryserver and all of my brothers and sisters.

Happy birthday Mercuryserver and all of my brothers and sisters.

truly some of the best bunch of people online. also, kamal and tom are truly gents and wonderful to work with. their passion spills over in all areas of life. thier constant dedication, hair loss, weight gain, and love have made it this place what it is. ;) Also the numerous mods, addicts, fans, and general joes; this place would not be the same without thier constant contributions. this is a true community, happy birthday MS.

I can but echo the comments and sentiments that have already been expressed so far in this thread.

I used to be heavily involved in doing the tracklists for the original Digweed Kiss 100 site [Only registered and activated users can see links] and after a while that become a bit of a chore, so lord only knows how Tom and Kamal & the others find the effort to provide such a huge scale thing such as MS.

Im just glad that I can contribute in my own little way by typing in the Cattaneo tracklists every now and then!

I would make a request that every one who enjoys the site should make a small donation if they haven't done so already-what's ?5 / $5 to you all?

Thanks again guys you rock!

Was listening to more of the LES mix last night, and boy did they do that mix hot or did they use a limiter to push the signal into the red, as it really makes the bass sound terrible.

I can't get into Hernan's mix, the first 15 minutes of it are all minimal techy house...not what I thought i'd hear from him.

WOW - is it only five years??? I too remember when you had to ask to join a forum to get the passwords. I used to record the Kiss 100 shows and missed a Sasha set one night. A user on an Essential Mix forum (Andrew's??? - something like that) suggested mercuryserver.com and I never looked back. Happy birthday [MS].

I got this card for my birthday recently - thought it was funny...

Hey Guys... I just arrived in Sao Paulo for some parties and I played some of these mixes last night at this private party and it was and awesome success.... people loved it! Thanks again for the access to great music!

What can I do to increase my rep power!!!! 0 is kind of a low # can I upload some mixes?

has anyone heard Sharam's smashing production "Be the Change"? I heard it at some live gigs and I've been waiting impatiently for the release ever since... It's the most beautiful song ever... I think most will agree when it comes out... or maybe someone has it already?

Does anyone know of any good mixes by Sharam on [ms]?

Man, I'm in love with these sets!!!! Can't wait to get full access to the downloads
