The name BAPE/Bathing Ape is based on a Japanese idiom - something about mediocrity in the general society I believe. I could be wrong. But BAPE is highly limited, highly priced and (BAPE lovers you gotta admit it) highly over-hyped. But what can I say? I"m still rockin' Evisu jeans and people have already been saying that Evisu is way over.

It is not that limited. Have you searched eBay? They could be knockoffs though...

There are A LOT of knockoffs. And yes, the gear IS that limited.

i'm afraid i've seen loads of chavs wearing bape knock-offs and also evisu knock-offs.

Aside from Ebay... Is there any way to purchase BAPE clothing in the states such as an online retailer?

There are NO official on line retailers, that is part off the allure. You're either in or out, it sucks in a way it took me 2 years to finally find something. There are stores in Japan, one in London and one in N.Y. Good luck!
