What about Kazell, Chloe' Harris and Taylor. I agree that Diggers and Cattaneo are great, but these other three are the best of the best as well. The best meaning the most current innovating DJ's of the progressive sound. Innovating meaning bringing the freshest quality tracks to the masses alongside elaborately meticulous programming and beat mixing abilities. And I'll also have to disagree with you about Sasha. He is among these I have mentioned. And for a complete 10 of the top current innovating DJ's of the progressive sound in my humble opinion would be as follows below and not in any particular order of favorites. They're all comparably excellent in their own individual styles.

      Kazell
      Chloe' Harris
      Jon Digweed
      Sasha
      Taylor
      Jonathon Lisle
      Jimmy Van M
      Shiloh
      James Zabiela
      Dave Begg

I would agree with most on that list. My list would look something like this for progressive DJs. Which is very similar to yours. In, mostly, particular order.

        Hernan Cattaneo
        John Digweed
        Greg Benz
        Luke Fair
        Desyn Masiello
        Chlo? Harris
        Slacker
        Kazell
        Jonathan Lisle
        Sasha
        Cass and Paolo Mojo
        Low End Specialists
        Flash Brothers
        Parks and Wilson
        Kevin Shiu
        Karlos Elizondo

        And on and on.

Sasha is still in there though.

Yeah i read that too, i will be seeing him next month at Fabric and he should be well into it by then, to be honest i'm a bit apprehensive, i would just love for a 5 hour DJ set from him, but who knows what he will bring, it will be interesting for sure

Chem, I have no trouble admitting that I love Sasha (in fact I'll see him @ his Involver Tour stop in SF in a little over a week), however, that said I've seen Digweed twice in the U.S. now without Sasha (namely NYE 2004 @ Avalon) and he blew the doors off of anything I've ever seen from Sasha (maybe except Homelands 2001). I just get the impression that Sasha is resting on his laurels a bit and relying on his old 'fame' to keep the clubs full. I really appreciate 'Involver' in a largely different fashion than any of his other mix CDs, but It's nowhere near the class of GU SF or MMII. And now that Sasha is going fully digital and using Ableton Live to mix in clubs...I have only one choice but to be skeptical. He's joining the ranks of those who are taking the craft out of DJing (although he says this will allow much more impressive key-matches) and I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's just one more step in the direction of 'going through the motions'. He needs to be careful...or I see an Oakenfold-esque fall from grace in his future. Just my 2 cents.
I ain't no damn noobie. Bitch.

Still would pay to see him anytime though.

He's ok but not that good???? Holy christ! maybe it's because Sasha is the Godfather of the music you listen to today, Sasha has been at the forefront of dance music for 15 years, headlining raves in the early 90s and inspiring DJs the world over, discovering and giving careers to the likes of Digweed, Burridge & Kleinenberg, no other DJ can pull the crowds like Sasha because he has that something special, forever pushing forward, He is the master, that's why he is so talked about.
I totally agree with you. Dance music wouldn?t be the same if sasha had not been around.

I have always respected Sasha's past work. And as Chemical beavis said he is a pioneer of the Progressive sound we enjoy today. However, I do agree with you about being very careful as not to steer away from the art of DJing. He could be removed from my list of current prog sound innovators just as easily as any of the others, but I stress current. I will be optimistically open minded and curious to see what he has in store.
