I've got an uncle with all kinds of experience with the stock market but I'm own to hearing from people my age and from MS...just had a few questions - but who here is actively buying/selling?

congrats Nick - I hear ye to the rest of you, I am in the same boat. But photography is starting to take off, so mo money is coming in. and I am fascinated by the stock market somewhat.

stocks are typically only one portion of a portfolio, do you have your retirement taken care of already? im throwing all of my (extra) money into my 401k, then once my wife starts working, i'll start throwing money into an index fund (vangaurd.com)cool - that's what I intended to do once I heard from members on who is active.

then IF i still had extra money id rather go to vegas and gamble it away than buy stocks.
yes people hit it rich with stocks but they are extremely lucky and most likely already rich to begin with.Comment

I've got a savings account I don't touch that is attached to moderate to high risk investments.

ok, sounds just like my 401k lol. the reason i like it is because i get matching through my employer.. hey free money is good.
ive been doing a shit ton of research on this recently and id suggest you check out Getting started - Bogleheads
now in the spirit of this thread since you are asking about stocks and not investment advice: i'd like to throw money at google and apple, but id have to throw way too much money at it to make any real money.Comment
