    Delays in signing music

Not being a dj/producer I'm a bit out of the loop when it comes to signing new music to a label. What types of circumstances delay and/or prohibit tracks from being signed? There's been a lot of discussion in regards to "New Kicks" and the fact that it is still yet unsigned. What would cause that?

    Money?
    Creative Differences?
A good shower head and my right hand - the two best lovers that I ever had.

There are many different situations that will effect a track getting signed and/or the time of release.

    - If the track gets shared on Soulseek (or just out on the internet) it will most likely never get signed!!!!
    - If there is a compilation the track is to be featured on, the release date will sometimes be changed to coincide with the CD release date.
    - Distribution problems (there are many things to list about that)
    - The time of the year will affect the release date (ie. certain songs sell better at different times of the year.)
    - Amount of releases coming out before that certain track.
    - State of the economy (will affect the release date and/or it getting signed)
    - Money ( a lot of times when a track gets hammered by so and so big DJ the producer will ask more $ than fair for the track)
    - Tracks will also be held back from being signed and/or released so they can build hype.

I am not sure if any of these reasons will be what you are looking for, but most tracks are affected by the aformentioned above.
