Autodesk aquires Alias (huge)

Now the company that owns 3dsmax aquires the makers of Maya.
If anyone knows what I'm talking about knows this is fucking huge.
$182 Million in cash.

^ yup.
Not to mention highest end compositing applications in the business.
Flint, Flame, Inferno...etc. This is so huge. Maya was and has been pretty much the industry standard with 3dmax playing second fiddle. I can't even begin to think of all the changes this is going to bring.

just the jump that autodesk was compared to autocad was a big jump. autocad also bought out the company that made revit (an amazing architecture program) a few years back and is now selling it as their own.
almost every architecture firm's life blood is autocad. with the firms needing to renew their seats every year and a sales rep on their ass to do it the company will only keep growing.

wow. that is big. i use autocad every day for work, occasionally 3dsmax, but i haven't used maya much.
