DVR cable box

Does anyone know if you can connect a USB cable (male to male) from my computer to my DVR box and grab the files from my DVR box and put them onto my computer?

No I don't have the cable or neither have I tried it, I figured i'd ask if it worked before I went out and bought the cable ya know.
