so your eardrum breaks from wax buildup? I'm confused...that was why I asked what happens...not understanding

Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.
^^ i don't get it either but then again i'm a dj.... i just remember a fellow club owners eardrum doing the same thing, going to the doctor with him and being mortified at the chunk of wax that popped out of his ear in the treatment room.... you had to see it to believe it.

well, I too wonder how having ear wax built up can cause your ear drum to be injured, but I had a similar experience that should provide some insight.
I had water in my ear once, and couldn't get it out for the logest time, it was really bothering me. So someone suggested using a q-tip to get it out. That packet the wax in my ears, I think, and I couldn't hear out of that ear much, and it hurt pretty bad. So I went to the doctor and he used this device to suck out the wax. It was crazy how much was in there, you have no idea. He did this for both ears for posterity. Seriously it was nasty how much was in there. Afterwards I felt like I could hear ten times better. But he told me also not to use q-tips. What you are supposed to do it, when showering, use a wash cloth that has soapy water on it, and just put it in your ear and clean it out. Don't worry, it won't go too far in, but that's fine. You are cleaning out wax that is there though, and he said that this is the stuff that would eventually go into your ear if not cleaned. Once you do this, the wax in your ear will naturally come out (although very slowly over time). So if you keep cleaning your ear every day in this fashion you should be ok. Does this make sense?
i heard somewhere, but never had it done... that the best way to take care of you ears is to go to a doctor a few times a year and have him wash them out with hot water... it is supposed to get ALL of the wax out. i even heard that qtips just push the wax deeper in your ear... i still use them though, i cant not use em.... anyone know of this process??
Ear candling also gets the wax out of your ear. It works via the suction method. Stick the tube of honey wax gently into the ear and light the wick and the air suction pulls out the wax! It's an ancient remedy. Don't try this at home. Go to a natural heath practioner.
Oops, I only read so far in this post and the candleing has already been mentioned. So there you go, it works as well!
Awww...I didn't mean A holes, as in "A holes"...I meant it like, as in, my friends....
Sucks ass and the doctor says it will just heal naturally in a couple of days.
Anyone have any tips for us DJ's as to the preventative maintenance of ear wax buildup considering we have earphones on most of the time?
I just wish this ringing would go away.
Also "pulling a Sasha" can be referred to as:
Doing a line of...
Spinning intoxicated...
Spinning in an altered state...
Showing up late to a gig...
Throwing a record into the crowd and hit a girl in the head...
End up in a ditch passed out the next morning with money flying out of your back pocket....lol...

Just what I was going to suggest. It moves the shit out at greater amounts than other methods...let's not talk about what came out of mine... :S
You can try it at home. I do it at home with the help of someone else (that I can trust of course). Just use a cardboard dish like thing covered on the top part with aluminium foil, and punch a hole in the middle, to collect the ashes of the ear candle.
go to the pharmacy and get a "wax removal kit" should come with ear drops to loosen wax and a syringe to flush the wax out. This is the safest easiest way to clean your ears. About a year ago the doctor flushed out a ton of wax out of my cue ear. I thought i was going deaf in that ear from djing... i could hear ten times better after that. I do it about once every few months now. never use q-tips, they are bad for your ears.
I thought you were refering to injuring folks with cds at ppl when you said "i pulled a sasha"
The candle method is excellent, I just got a mate of mine to do it. She wasn't trained or anything but no harm was done and a load of crap came out of my ear. Haven't done it for a while though, should get her to do it again
