First, about last night:

Randy, you did excellent for your first time out! I was most exceptionally proud of your track selection. You did opening duties proper, and I see the potential for you to be the next new talent to say he got his break at Abbasso.

I've always felt that a big part of the magic of the place is the way the music surrounds you and forces you to hop on and go for the ride. It's hard to hide in conversation or whatever else might distract you from fully engaging in the vibe around you.

At the end of the best nights at Abbasso, we emerge at the top of the stairs a little different than when we went in, moved by the transforming effects we experience when we're able to completely let go of what ails us on the outside world.

All you DJs last night did just that, and you lifted up the room and our collective spirits to the best of what Abbasso has been over the years.

We just sent Ian on his way and he said to thank all of you for letting him share in our scene here. He said last night was probably one of his best times ever, and that's a pretty high compliment.

thanks for all the nice comments.... and the mean ones
i had a blast, i played really well and got compliments from other dj's that were there
so i was pummped up the whole nite, which led to me getting hammered on vodka and redbull

i will post a few short vids later, but it was really dark in the dj booth so its hard to see

I remember my first time... It was the dead of winter. A cold northern wind caressed my face as I made my way through the uncharted waters of Chicago nightlife. It was 11pm and the bass from the club could clearly be heard over the drone of the cab i had just passed...
