That's definitely not my mom. I can relate, though... somewhat. My mom recently closed her used book store and had nothing to do with the 40,000+ books that she had. She now has an unfinished basement full of bookshelves with aisles that you can only walk down sideways... but fuck! At least her house is normal on the main floor!

not bothering to look it up right now, but there actually is a clinical name for that type of syndrome. I actually have a friend who's mom is also like that.

I can't remember the name, but it has destroyed families, marriages, you name it, because these people simply won't get rid of stuff that they have...and if someone else throws it out, well they'll just go get more!

It is considered a syndrome, because it's like alcoholism....hard to break, and people don't admit they have a problem...sad.

The inability to throw old stuff out is one of the main charicteristics of Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder, not to be confused with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (like Jack Nicholson had in the movie As Good as it Gets). People with OCPD adhere strictly to rules and are more focused on the procedures of how things are to be done, so that they often lose track of the main objective or goal. They are often inflexible in the ways that they do things and they often see there way as the right and only way to get things done.

That guy needs to move out, how can you live like that.

That's all she does. She sits in the basement 5 days a week selling shit on Ebay, and makes killer money. She doesn't have a job, she just moved her business completely to Ebay and closed her store.
