You know what the funny thing is with Americans? They always need to have their nose rubbed into the facts that prove that one of their addictions is causing damage. And when they finally realise what everybody with common sense already knows, they start battering their dealers with law suits. Examples: cigarettes, fast food and now energy consumption.

we have glacerial ice core samples dating back 600,000 (4 ice ages worth, for you "climate cycle" types) that prove the connection btw Co2 and temp.

did we really have sophistcated enough technology in 1860 to measure the temperature accurately enough to notice a one-hundredth of a change in the temperature? imo the the measurement scale is progressing as time passes

Agreed. That is why a part of me no longer wants to have children. I don't want to have a child of mine growing up in a world full of so much hate, and destruction. Soon we will have taken over this world completely like a plague, destroying our entire environment. There will be no wildlife, no clean air or water. This will eventually destroy us as a human race if we don't do something about it soon, for some critical situations, it's already to late.

there will always be hate in the world... there is never a "good" time


on a side note... if global warming has become such a big issue lately because of gas emissions, why are all of our coasts not shrinking? wouldn't half of miami have disappeared over the past 50 years if this is such a big problem? all the water in those ice caps needs to go somewhere.

is only logic that everything that we are doing to the planet in order for us to live life more confortably, is fucking it up ... we'll just need to readjust ourselves and learn to live with some sacrifices

Cycles are there, but never has earth warmed up this fast - and there's enough research to prove that at least part of this heating up is due to our exhaust. It doesn't have to be completely the result of what we do, but even by speeding up a normal process we can destroy this planet...for example: in normal circumstances, species would have enough time to adapt, evolve or new species would have the time to develop that are adapted to the 'new' environment, and not even that has always happened in the past. Imagine that the change is too fast for that...you'd lose a lot of flora and faune that cannot cope with the pace in which the climate is changing, and the extinction rate will explode. No replacements, no adaptation. Just an empty earth left.
