Re: The New Atheists
not a belief in a higher being, just a belief in human philosophy, as Sean so humorously explained. I know that my good nature provides, for the lack of a better word, a karma around me and that is returned in kind. Bad attitudes and people get treated badly in return just the same. It's a feeling we get off of people and our actions are adjusted to that feeling. I've seen it play out too many times.

Thats true....that is just my opinion. I dont mean to inflame. So I guess in my opinion and Voltaire's opinion...."If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him"Leave a comment:

Re: The New Atheists
that is what drives ppl like CDJ crazy. it isnt the truth, it is merely an opinion. we cannot prove or disprove the theory. im sorry we cant. just playing devils advocate. you will find that more than 90% of humanity beleives in the higher power. but you cant prove them wrong, just as someone like CDJ cannot prove god exists. debate, dont inflame.Leave a comment:

Re: The New Atheists
I dont believe in the existence of God...or any supreme being. We are born...we live..and we die...thats it. Nothing more, we are much too insignificant in the great scheme of things to believe we are "GODS CREATUREs" Richard Dawkins has made some seriously solid statements. Although I dont believe it should be imposed on anyone. Like religion...or believing in one god over another was pushed over the centuries, this is something that people will eventually realize. Till...then...let them believe whatever they want to.
Religion was created to give man structure in life, and keep man humble. But the truth remains, There is no God.Leave a comment:

Re: The New Atheists
that's pretty much my philosophy as well...with the exception of the "i beleive that there is something out there".i wonder what i am. i dont follow any particular religion, but i have faith. i do, i beleive that there is something out there, but i have no clue what it is. i just refer to it as god, and dont identify any routines or beleif systems. its more about being good and not doing harm to others and hopefully benifitting. kinda follows the bible line of ''do onto others...". but that is it. im sorry, but i dont think you are going to hell for not attnding a service that is changed every 50 years by us.
We're all better off treating each other with respect and truthfully, good things do go around

Re: The New Atheists
^Good view point.
I also believe in God. I consider myself a Christian. But there are too many people in the world for any one way to be absolute. It takes all kinds. Every religion has a common thread and Sean pointed it out..."Do onto others as you would have them do to you."Leave a comment:

Re: The New Atheists
You see there's the trick the "believers" have learned how to play on the atheists, get the atheists to defend their "belief" that there is no god.
First, it corners the atheists to realize that for as much as they'd like to fight against the concept of belief, to proclaim there is no god is a belief all unto itself.
Second, it's a catch-22, can't prove it one way or the other and they always fall for it.
...which is why at the end of the day, I call myself an agnostic. I don't believe in god, but I can't disprove it either.Leave a comment:
