I don't go to shows to see the person and don't by all means follow anyone..... I go to hear the records. How many people go to see britney for her music?

    None.

    They go to see her.

WTF?! i love electronic but i know it's not a masterpiece. case in point. you have to train years and years to be a great musician. think anyone can play jazz or classical?
Go listen to airdrawndagger and tell me how much it sounds like the new NSYNC cd.

How many years do you think jxl and sasha have been training?

Yeah but of what caliber? I could pick up ableton, sonar, reason whatever..... but you aren't going to hear my track getting played. Ask any producer here how long they've been at it. My guess is they didn't start last night.

    good article thanks for sharing.

by coincidence I let my girlfriend listen to ADD last night on repeat while 'making love'
my comments on it before i put it on: "this is modern classical music."
Its a masterpiece that took years to develop and has no match in pop or rap and it never will. compairing it with classical music is rather fair i would say.

that's rubbish. go to a pop concert and everybodies looking at the stage to see there favorite popstar. while if you go to a club to hear you're favourite dj you dance to the music. nobody keeps looking at the booth to see the dj
and another thing in electronic music you're looks aren't important. i mean look at sasha he is ugly no question about it. if you're not hot you can have the best voice but you're not gonna become a popstar. it's all about the image
Anyways thanks for the article i appreciate it

When speaking about intelligence use proper grammar.

I suggest everyone read the initial post instead of continuing to comment on the title of the thread.
Your is a word fooooooool. Look it up you dig?
        Thanks for coming.

        "ya dig" is slang
Fair enough. I was just giving my opinion on the article, which I still think is bullshit. Didn't expect to be picked up on my grammar as an argument against my point, kind of an asshole thing to do, in my opinion.

I know a lot of people who are what would be referred to as intelligent and they don't listen to dance music, so that makes them idiots. If its too complex then idiots don't understand, as you say. Whatever dude, whatever.

Re:: Why Dance Music Doesn?t Get Played On the Radio

i think another reason why edm isnt as popular in the us has something to do with clubbing culture here. edm is limited to clubs in the US; there are no outdoor parties, no love parades. and clubs here mostly only let in people over 21, while people 14-20, the age where you parents buy you everything and therefore all your money is disposable income, dont have exposure to to edm. so of course there isnt marketing. the other part of it is is that there is a certain elitism associated with clubs. half the people there are there to see the DJ but the other half is wearing leather pants and shirts that say `im wearing a dolce and gabbana t-shirt?. so clubs become more of a ostentatious display of noveau riche pigshit than about music. those very same people who say that edm all sounds the same dont even consider it music, just background noise.

i really liked this article. and no matter how much we argue or agree with the article it all comes down to one simple point:

opinions are like assholes. everyone's got one. i personally thought the article was very on point, but i also have an asshole.
Should I fuck you at that not until the ass, inject then tremendously hard bumschen and to the termination in the eyes yes?

Hey, I never wrote the Milli Vanilli comment!

But I thought I should point out that this article was written in 2000 and the author (Twiloboss) was one of the owners of Twilo (Steve C?).

Some of the comments seemed a bit more valid back then and I thought I should point out the author since some seem have questioned his relationship with electronic music.

Re: Why Dance Music Doesn?t Get Played On the Radio

Liked the article, but it is very biased. Especially to say if Beethoven or Mozart was around they would not have many record sales. If alive I think they would have adapted to society and produced a product, different, but yet amazing. Electronica is very pleasing and I love it. It is very complex, but it is all processed beats and recycled for the most part. I agree that many people want artists with personality, but I think most care about the product. For all you ex heads, ex is associated with electronica. Not saying that all people that listen to electronica do exctasy, but many or most have tried it. Its a hell of a lot of fun, but to much fun... Back to the subject electronica is right where it needs to be. If you like it you love it and if not you suck. It has not been tainted by the mass media. Still underground and amazing.

                  my mind,

Re: Why Dance Music Doesn?t Get Played On the Radio

when trying to introduce someone to electronica, i tell them to let their mind wander while listening to it...dont focus too much on the repetitive aspects, and try and notice how a good track changes and builds upon a basic idea. The best part about a great comp or set is getting completely lost in the music, as i'm sure most on the board have experienced.

I agree w/ your opinion in the latter portion of this post, but just wanted to correct your first statement.

                        Outdoor Parties for example:

                        Coachella - California
                        Love Parade - San Francisco
                        Fuse-In (Formerly known as D.E.M.F.) - Detroit

And there's plenty of underground parties... you just have to dig a little harder. Besides many venues in American big cities are 18 and up too. You just have to wear a wristband to drink.

Depending on where you travel to, there's a shitload of electronica on the radio. It's Country, Rap and R&B that need to be exterminated.

IMO it?s better this way. It is so, it should be so: Underground Music all over the world. It?s not about the image, it?s the all the about the music, the feeling. Pumping in my veins!! BUM BUM BUM BUM BUM Let it shine like a healthy solar system star.
If they played it all over the radio and TV it would become a popular phenomena making a whore out of the deal, like Pop music. Pop music is all about the titties and the million dollars, Paris doesn?t really give a shit what she sings.
