there's more than meets the eye here. they've had several bomb threats recently too, evidently. i'm sure they aren't releasing the details until they have an accurate story. too much speculation could cause a huge outrage/scare.

Why does this always seem to happen at a school in the US?

Happened here as well already and politicians and concerned citizens blamed video games like Counterstrike for it. Somebody has no friends, sucks at school, his parents beat the crap out of him, he does drugs but yeah the video games are to blame. They even started calling 1st person shooters officially "Killer games" here after that. I am only sorry for all the people and their families who actually enjoyed their lifes in opposite to the assasinator who decided to get out of it all with a bang.

Why did the police say they had the shooter in custody and then said he was dead??

Wow - this is really terrible. I'm watching on Fox & CNN now. This'll go down as one of the worse school shootings ever. I'm waiting to hear the reasons why. They said there had been bomb threats, so I wonder if they're related.
