This is the last I'll post on this topic because it's obvious that we disagree. But for the record let me fresh your memory...

"Different societies, different cultures. It is unfortunate that Haiti is a third-world nation, but it is that reason that they have more death and destruction."

Did I use the word "deserve" like you do did in your original retort? I am merely stating the reason why they receive more death and destruction; I am not advocating it.

As for you being taught not to complain...what are you doing complaining about a guy who is complaining then? Going so far as to tell him to "STFU" and to leave his backyard in ruins in order to donate money to a relief fund? Who knows if this guy even has the cash available to pay his deductible? I saw a report of a guy who had just gotten laid off from NASA and lost half of his home in the storm. Who knows, maybe it's the same guy. All you see is a guy on the news, who was asked by a reporter of the losses he suffered, stating he lost his pool and patio furniture or whatever and you pick that up as he's bellyaching. It's not like he took out a 2 page ad or a 30 second spot to bitch about it...he was respoding to a question.

i guess my mother just raised me differently.

i was taught never to complain, because somewhere, there is always someone who has it worse off than you.

sure he has every right to bitch and moan about his swimming pool, i just think he should be glad that's all he lost and shut the fuck up about it.

and just because it's a poverty stricken nation, you're saying it's somehow justifiable that they should have more death and destruction? and so be it?

if anyone is thinking about humanity here, it's me, the fucking pool is replacable, lives and an entire counrty is not so easily just paid for by a deductible.

so, again, dude with the pool, SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT IT, pay your deductible and go about your happy wonderful life. Actually, how about just skipping your deductible, and donate that money to a Hatian relief fund, and god forbid, live without a swimming pool for a few months, the entire country of Hati IS a swimming pool.

    priorities. that's all i'm saying.

It's not a hard concept for ME to grasp...it seems like you're the one having a hard time understanding that you shouldn't hold animosity for a man because he lost a pool, that just so happened to be facing the ocean, due to a hurricane. Now, is he worse off than any of the Hatians that have lost their home? No. They definitely have it worse. But I'm not going to get mad at him for complaining about losing a pool. Different societies, different cultures. It is unfortunate that Haiti is a third-world nation, but it is that reason that they have more death and destruction. But again that does not mean that we should be angry because an American man is upset that he has to pay a deductible that is 2% of the value of his home in order to replace/repair his residence. Do you realize what 2% of even a $200,000 home is? $4000. And beach homes go for more than that.

    scary isn't it?

there are actually people like me walking the earth. oh the humanity.

this has all been blown out of context, and now everyone from florida has a beef with me.

i'm just talking out of my ass, jesus. i live in an earthquake hotbed, get hit by these things all the time, i know about loss. i was serious when i said i feel sorry for a lot of people down there, and i will pray for them. but when i see one man complain about his pool, and the next clip is of hatian people walking around carrying their belongings with them because their entire country is leveled, call me what you want, but it's hard to feel sorry for the guy losing his pool.

why is that a hard concept for you to grasp?

I wish you'd go back to whatever hole you crawled out out you Noob. You're right the guy chose to build his pool on the ocean, but you're saying he doesn't have the right to complain about it being destroyed? You're a nutjob. The guy pays extra insurance for the priveledge of having a home on the water.

There's neither a single country nor a single person that deserves more sympathy than any other during these natural disasters. Just because Hispanola suffered countless deaths doesn't mean that any and all deaths in Florida (and other states throughout the Southeast and Southwest) should be shoved aside.

I can't believe I'm actually wasting my time attempting to educate a complete loss to society. At least I know that I'm more intelligent than at least one person in the world.

Oh and BTW SickBoy says to go to hell too.

floridians, well, you choose to live in florida, deal with it. sucks yes, but, i have a hard time feeling sorry for people losing their second vacation home.

i read the other day this couple were devistated when the seawall holding their massive inground swimming pool gave way and collapsed, thereby ruining their pool.

boo fucking hoo. try living in hati you rich cocksucker.
Goddammit. What is with you ignorant SOBs? This isn't my second vacation home you moron...this is my home. What about the people that didn't choose to live in Florida? My father was transferred here when he worked for the government...no choice, unless you call not having a roof over our head and no food to eat a second option.

Sorry to inform you but not everyone that lives down here lives here half of the year in their second/vacation home. I grew up down here and wouldn't choose to live anywhere else. And I go to UF's Pharmacy School, so it's not like I have a choice in where the school is located (sure, I had a choice in school's, but UF is one of the best). Also, it's not like this happens every year. I've grown up here and have never experienced this much hurricane activity in one year. Pretty much your statement can go for almost any region of the US. "I don't feel sorry for you that you lost everything in wild fires/mudslides, you chose to live in Cali, or don't feel bad that you lost everything to a tornado, you chose to live in kansas," the same idiotic remarks can be said for just about anywhere. Did you happen to miss all the news coverage of how many different states were affected by hurricane Ivan?? There were floods and over 130 tornados and most of that didn't happen in Florida. Are you just jealous because you don't have the ability to drive down to Miami whenever you want?? Or is it because we have some of the best beaches and you're mad because they're not in your backyard? I think that you really need to reevaluate your comments and show some compassion!! This is nature...we can't do anything about it and no matter where you live you are affected by it!
