Good job on the 4.5 year thread bump.

Reminding me of comments I've long forgotten.

Also I didn't realize back then the guy he killed at the beginning of the show in the middle of the day is Idris Elba.

Anyone know if they end of this actually happened that way? I'm not much of a gangster history buff believe it or not...

Thought the movie was really good, but I felt like the ending was a bit unusual how they all of a sudden worked together... What happened to his bad ass temper at that point?

no offense, but i didn't think it was all that good. it wasn't bad, but wasn't good either. even kind of dull at times. watch it if you've got nothing else.

and the finest since casino, would be The Departed.

Caught this movie on the weekend... definately recommend it. Denzel and Russell put together top notch performances, I presume one will win an award for sure... great acting, good story line, some great scenes by both actors... a little bit long but I didnt mind as much due to the fact that it was such a good flick...

    American Gangster

This film is the finest gangster movie since Martin Scorscese's 1995 masterpiece, "Casino." This masterpiece depicts the life and events of Frank Lucas, who dominated the New York City drug trade in the late 60s, early 70s. Washington provides one of his finest performances, demonstrating remarkable range as an actor.

Russell Crowe was at his best in his depiction of Richie Roberts, the Essex County detective who led the team that brought down Lucas, all despite the rampant corruption
    of the time.

Then there is Josh Brolin, who depicts an ultra-corrupt New York Detective. Between this film, "No Country for Old Men", and "In the Valley of Elah", Brolin is enjoying a banner year.

Do yourself a favor: see this film.

this is a quality film. defiantly recommend it. is around 2hrs 45min long but feels way shorter as its that good. washington and crowe are a hell of a double bill for a film. both knock out oscar nomination/winning performances. be stunned if this isnt up for a hat full.
