lcd monitor recommendations?

I have a Samsung 171s. It was rated very highly by a lot of computer magazines. It's two years old now but it works quite well. My only beef would be it's hard to tell darker greens and blues from black. Other than that, No problems.

Forgot to add, that Samsung 172x also has both analog (VGA) & digital (DVI) inputs so its more future proof
Kinda silly getting a digital monitor and not having the ability to get the best out of it so DVI is almost essential, improves the picture quality remarkably

Its won numerous awards from PC magazines and generally gets 5 star ratings. Do your own research though.

If you're doing graphics work then try to find a viewsonic vg191. The allen & heath of monitors.

As said though, if you're not doing graphics work then no need to spend so much.

I don't think theres any doubt Sony makes the best tubed monitor but I wouldn't buy any of their LCD's. Samsung would probably be the best route for a good priced LCD and agree with Stu and would try to get one with 12ms if you plan on playing games or watching DVD's

Also has a very thin surround so you can set up dual monitors and not have a huge gap between screens

I really like the sony ones. They are incredibly sharp and sleek. Hoewver they carry a hefty price tag. Hyundai and samsung also make decent flat panels too

1st you have to say what do you want to do with your computer, because if you do not use a computer for graphic design, you don't need an expensive 19" monitor, if you only write some documents in a word processor or use Excel, PowerPoint, you don't need a big monitor.
I can give you some advices but you must say what do you do with your computer?

Dude, I got the sony HS-93 for about $650 and it's fucking incredible. Crisp as clear and bright as hell. It also has one of the brightest contrast ratios.

Only downside is that it doesn't have a digital input.
