I've been reading stuff that indicates this will be pretty cool, and it's all from McG who's had to clear up some rumours:
Earlier today the folks at Total Film posted a series of rumor-killing facts about the upcoming film Terminator Salvation. The rumors have all been festering on the internet over the past few months, but have not been confirmed nor denied by director McG. And when Total Film had a chance to sit down with McG this past week, they ran all of the rumors by him. The result was four interesting revelations about the next Terminator movie.

“That is not the ending. John Connor is not the machine. We did discuss that idea, but that is not the ending, I can say that right now.”
2. James Cameron did not give his blessing to the production:“I did go to see James Cameron. He didn’t give us his blessing, but he didn’t shit all over our movie. When Jim was making Alien, he was following the great Ridley Scott, so he knows how we feel.”
3. Christian Bale wasn’t always so gung-ho to do the pic:“I met Christian when he was shooting The Dark Knight. He told me to fuck right off, he didn’t want to do it. He said, ‘Write it so that it could be read cold on stage and I’ll think about doing it.’”
4. Arnold may appear, but he will be recreated with CGI:“We’re trying to synthesise a human character with a CGI character and that may or may not have something to do with the T800.”
All very interesting stuff if you ask me, but it won’t do much to quell the outbreak of rumors and hearsay on the web. Within these revelations, though, come a few reasurances to fans who were expecting some craziness. John Connor isn’t a robot, which is probably a good thing, and Christian Bale only signed on because the script lived up to his standards — standards that we have come to see are pretty high.
