Yes, even tho it would be nice to have an Englishman run the team, it's nice to have someone in charge that can be objective and put out the best players regardless of name and/or stature.

You're right tho, not a lot of promise for the future, which is why this 5 foreign player rule scares me a bit

but, to be honest, Rooney has been a bit of a let down the past two or so seasons.. and i think that has a lot to do with Ronaldo being on his club team.. i think Man U as a whole will be better TEAM with out Ronaldo WHEN he goes to RM (we all know he is) and hopefully Rooney wil find his scoring touch again.

exactly they beat what was put infront of them and i like Fabio and think he will do a good job.

i am a bit worried that there doesnt seem to be that much young talent coming through after Rooney

^^^ lol.. they won both, did what they needed, im sure they are not to chuffed about playing tune up matches for WC quals when for all intents and purposes they should be playing in the Euro 2008.. and i mean, it WAS USA and TnT.. how amped up were they meant to be?

Adz.. the job of a mgr is to put the players in the best situation to win and get the most out of his players.. Mclaren did neither, so yes he did have a lot to do with them not making the tourney, just as Sven had a lot to do with prior failures.

Trust me, I completely agree that a lot of the players over the past 8 years or so have had this feeling of entitlement and came across like they care more about what they are buying at the shops than what they are doing on the pitch.. BUT that also comes from a gaffer that never really made said players work for their places on the squad, so the players became complacent, which unfortunately why wouldnt they?

Becks for instance should have been dropped a long time ago, because when he finally was he came back better than he has been in years.. anyway..

the tourney will be fun, watching the teams arrive last nght made me get a bit excited for this actually..
looking forward to italy v holland and france v italy

on a side WTF is Raul not on the squad for?

I dunno whats been going in the the England team of late, they never seem to want to win. The 2 performances against the USA and Trinidad and Tobago recently were pretty shite to be fair. Getting paid to much imo.

sorry steve but if you only blame mclaren for us not getting there then take off those rose tinted glasses

the players were as much to blame as the gaffer

Yeah making it beyond the group stage shouldn't be a problem..if it is a problem our newspapers will be flooded with it for months. It sucks that England isn't part of it and I don't mean it cynical but something is just missing that HAS to be there.....

christ Tom, I'll be surprised if you lot give up a goal in the group stages.. Croatia is your biggest challenge I'd say

well, look like Italy just took a big hit possibly losing Cannavaro
