Real name / Camea Hoffman
She is Seattle cool meets Brooklyn edge, with a dark, sophisticated techno
and micro-house sound that's addicted the hip across Europe, Asia, and
the Americas. Camea, a classically trained piano and clarinet player
turned electronica diva, offers a funky-sexy blend of groovy minimal
house and techno, a little bit dirty and a lot danceable. A rising star on
the producing scene, her tracks have been played and charted by many
leading artists such as Richie Hawtin, Magda, Loco Dice, Pan-Pot and
many more. In 2007 she had remixes out on Minus and Einmaleins, as well as a solo release on her label titled, “Voiding the Fill”. She's the co-
founder of the highly successful record label, Clink Recordings, which
showcases the best of minimal techno and house. Since Camea
conceptualized the project in 2003 with partner, friend and DJ, Insideout,
she has managed to assemble a fantastic team of artists including Tony
Rohr, Tim Xavier, Afternoon Coffee Boys, Alexi Delano, Elon, Adultnapper,
and Ambivalent. In their contributions to Clink they each strive to offer
playable dance music with a unique sound, which has been the main
focus of the label since the beginning. Coupled with beautiful,
conceptual design and high quality audio, this standard has brought
Clink into the top bracket of American techno labels, and it has received
International attention and press from DJs, critics and listeners.
From small, underground clubs to crowds numbering in thousands,
Camea is recognized for her intelligent, fun music selection and outgoing
stage presence, which has earned her a valuable reputation worldwide.
She is known for her extended DJ sets, sometimes playing up to 8 hours
if the vibe feels right, and she enjoys playing peak, driving sets as well as funky, minimal and weird afterhours sessions. In the dark club or in the sunshine, Camea always comes prepared and loves to play for any mood.
She is consistently touring across the globe, and has also made a distinct
mark on the New York techno scene, performing at most of the
prestigious venues and parties for her genre, including Minimoo, Avalon,
Cielo, Wolf and Lamb, Bunker, APT and Crobar. Additionally, before her
relocation to Berlin this summer, she teamed up with good friend Kevin
McHugh (Ambivalent/M_nus), on Friday nights for a global audience on
their live weekly broadcast, The Nerd Tank, on EastVillageRadio
Just recently completing the construction of her studio in Kreuzberg,
Berlin, Camea is now enjoying a regular touring schedule and has many
projects in the works.
