    Re: Metallica

what?? lol on that reasoning. phil anselmo has sung that way his whole life and he sounds the same as he did bak in the 80's hell james sang that way for over 10 years with no issues. has notghin to do with it. bob rock taught him how to sing in key and he sounds like crap now....

that kind of music needs a rough around the edge voice

    Re: Metallica

if he still could sing like he did on MOP. His voice would be so screwed up by all the growl he put into his voice back then, he'd have to have voice surgery. Like Tom Keifer of Cinderella.

^^^thanks for posting that i was curius to how they sound now (been since late 80's early 90's since i was listening to them

musically i thought it was pretty damn good....but james's voice is horrible now. what the hell is he thinking. doesnt sound metal at all and it puts to shame the original recoridngs.

i was a huge fan back in the day... a fanatic really, and since bob rock recreated hetfields voice it just doesnt fit with the music like it did in there early days.

Well, I saw this new AIC line-up 2 years ago live, and I can tell you that their new singer can match Layne Staley note-for-note on the old stuff.

However, he sure as hell is not as charismatic as Layne, you know, technically the guy is there, but the feeling isn´t the same, and Layne´s dark and troubled voice was like the "MVP" of Alice In Chains.

yeah there is a band that should have completely shut down after the death of their singer. Same as Queen. They will never be nowhere near as good.

They just played SXSW and it was mostly old material, so who knows, to me it is just like every other band I saw back in the day who decides to make a return with the exception of a few, they just fall short.

Been a fan since I was 11 and have seen them twice. Lost interest in their new albums during the 90s, but Death Magnetic is the best thing they have done since Justice. No, it's not as good, nothing can touch those early albums, but it's pretty damn close.

totally agree with everyone stating that it went down hill after the black album. my thought was that they tried to ride the grunge train during the concept of the st. anger album which in turn cost them a lot of fans. stick with what works and never try to change your image based off what is selling at the moment, will cost you more in the long run although they aren't hurting by any means. lars views on downloading music is still laughable to me. don't get me wrong, i'm a firm beleiver in being paid for what you do, but did he really think that he could stop people from downloading music for free?
