    Release Notes:

    01. Atapy & BOg - Strung [Bedrock Records | Beddigi58]
    02. Atapy & Bog - Despair Bedrock Records | Beddigi58]

Bedrock launches into 2015 with a highly creative double-header from two respected artists from the revolution that is currently happening in the Romanian electronic scene – Atapy & BOg. Whether it's the deeply delicious uplifting melodies and dramatic strings of “Strung”, or the more intense melancholic journey of “Despair”, there can be no denying that this duo are one’s to watch this year. Their distinctive collaborative style and attention to detail marks them out as having unique creative talent.

For Romania’s Arpi Takacs (aka Atapy), addiction to electronic music started early, first as a regular freak in club corners and then behind the decks, developing his DJ skills. Since 2010, his career has been firmly on the rise with likes of M.A.N.D.Y., Ritchie Hawtin, Laurent Garnier, Dubfire, Tom Budden, Djuma Soundsystem and many more, championing his highly desirous productions. It’s all about quality and not quantity for Atapy, with previous key releases on his own Cimelde label and Get Physical, alongside his collaborations with (amongst others): Noir, Digitaria and Cari Golden; and reworking The XX and the legendary “Knight Rider” theme, here is an artist with both style and passion.

BOg is a Romanian electronic music composer and DJ, based in Paris. Also deeply passionate about music since childhood, he has risen to his current prominence through releases on Crosstown Rebels, Fumakilla, Akbal Music, and (not forgetting) a recent superb remix of “Gridlock” by none other than John Digweed & Nick Muir on Bedrock. With talent and releases like this on the agenda it looks like 2015 is going to be an amazing year!

    Release Date: 12 January 2015

    03. Agents Of Time - Lotus Flower [Lost & Found | Promo]

It all started in a store room, a drink and a bit of time.Three minds give life to the Agents of time. A real fusion of ideas and concepts that make up a single reality.Together they develop a rare style characterised by particular and refined sounds, contaminated by their own electronic mood, a major common interest.A rather suggestive experience through which it's easy to get carried away without noticing the uncontrollable time that flows and that doesn't find obstacles in front of itself.

Andrea Di Ceglie, Fedele Ladisa and Luigi Tutolo are the Agents Of Time. The italian trio started this ambitious project in July 2013.The debut album will be released on the british label, Stem Records, in January 2014.

Their innovative sound, characterized by the fusion of strong elements that are electronic, progressive, techno and ambient, allows to relate with any kind of dancefloor.

Their live performance, distinguished by an evident visual and choreografic attention, is advantaged by the use of analogic instruments that make the product unique in its genre.

The meticulous care of details is the background of a performance which is always unpredictable and never taken for granted, making the Agents Of Time an innovative and polyhedric group.

"Nothing is left to chance, all is entrusted to time"

    04. Mind Against - Strange Days (Recondite Remix) [Life And Death | LAD019DIGITAL]

At the cusp of the present and a not so distant future we stand in an incongruous space of sensory overload where tomorrows big new high is just a small technological leap away. A dystopian landscape inspired by a bygone portrait of days to come. Once again Mind Against bring their signature sound to Life and Death as they explore territory that is somehow both familiar and fresh at the same time.

With two tracks of emotional techno that traverse a dynamic sonic landscape, both Strange Days and Polarstern could easily captivate a small room or command a small army with ease.

Bringing an understated counterpoint to the EP is Recondite's subtle yet rich sounding take on Strange Days as he reworks it into a soft and sexy trip that seems to take you on a journey outwards and inwards all while standing still in that place where words have no meaning. A well crafted remix of the highest caliber.

    Release Date: 15 December 2014

    05. The Acid - Ghost (Maya Jane Coles Remix) [Infectious Records | INFECT209]

Fresh from being re-worked by Maya Jane Coles, The Acid have unveiled the second remix of their latest single “Ghost,” this time by Hamburg-based producer, Oliver Schories.

This reworking is the second release from the Ghost Remix EP, out now on Mute and the non-remix EP on iTunes.

“Ghost” is the third single to be taken from The Acid’s debut album Liminal, released earlier this year via Mute / Infectious to widespread critical acclaim including the likes of NME, Pitchfork, XLR8R, and Popmatters.

Through their work, both artists draw parallels in their music by accentuating the ambient mood in a track. However, with his remix of “Ghost,” Schories injects a fresh shot of brooding energy into the heavy and atmospheric sonic soundscape provided by The Acid, providing an ominous and haunting undertone that quickly transforms into a dark deep-house dub.

Oliver Schories is fairly new to the big stage, only establishing himself in 2010 after releasing with notable labels Ostwind Records and Parquet Recordings. Since his arrival, Schories is making his stamp as one of the leading figures in a new wave of Hamburg producers creating atmospheric, yet emotive house.

    Release Date: 01 December 2014

    Release Date: 21 December 2014

    07. Uner - Silencio (Igor Vicente Remix) [Supernature | SPN039]

Next up on Audiofly's influential Supernature is UNER, one of Spain’s most prominent tech house exports and someone who's scored big recently with the release of his musically adventurous debut LP, Tune 432, on Diynamic Music.

As well as three great originals, one of which is a collaboration with Spain’s Baum, on point remixes come from Patrice Meinher, Igor Vicente and Of Norway. UNER has had a fine year in 2014. Not only did he make a fine statement with his album, but also received worldwide acclaim for his technically excellent DJ sets. He also made his BoilerRoom debut and has become one of the most charted producers on Resident Advisor.

Kicking off his latest EP is title track ’Silencio’, a hugely intricate micro house track that weaves together many bobbling drum lines, hazy percussion and mysterious atmospheres into a captivating slice of late night hedonism. Spiritual pads add a real sense of space and the occult melodies turtle sound like little else. This same cut gets three remixes.

The first is from Of Norway, who deliver an organic fusion of real instruments, cute melodic hooks and fat bass that makes for a playful, lushly decorated rework that falls apart and comes back together again before your very ears. It’s hugely inventive and lovingly off kilter.

Patrice Meinher reworks Sliencio as a sparse, woody and stripped back number for the heads. Whilst a pleasing, synthetic and mechanical revision comes from Igor Vicente. Rippled with celestial melody of the highest order. ‘Hodei’ is another original production, this time created with fellow Spaniard and experienced house pro Baum. It’s the deepest and most serenely seductive here and offers rich pads, rueful vibes and pained, pixelated melodies that really stand out.

    Release Date: 29 December 2014

    08. Kurt Baggaley - Far Between (Former Self EP) [Something Happening Somewhere | SoHaSo 005]

Staring through the mirror. Transmitting the former self. Kurt Baggaley uncovered a theme. A theme of the ages. A theme with no clear beginning, nor end. The British producer has made a monumental effort of capturing, bending the sequence, making it’s frequencies audible for everyone to hear, for the select few to understand. A 13 minute manifestation that seems to be able to go on forever. Drifting away, time seems detached, reality becomes palpable and minds become entranced. Esoteric, arcane, inscrutable. This is your former self.

Moving far between audible dimensions, Nuno dos Santos has made his next move, lifting the veil of the new release on his Something Happening Somewhere. Enlisting Kurt Baggaley for this EP, with Maeve’s the Drifter delivering a staggering remix of the epic opening piece called ‘Former Self’. Taking the original arrangement and making it club-ready, the Drifter does exactly what’s needed, and more. Being able to keep the emotive payload intact while giving it the dancefloor treatment is more than impressive. It’s a triumph.

Completing the circle on the flip side is Kurt Baggaley himself with ‘Far Between’. A succumbed, deep jam, again taking it’s time to unveil it’s true payload: a hidden arpeggio that will only be appreciated by those who take time to listen.

It’s time to forget time and drift off. To transmit. To receive. Open up, let the frequencies in. 12” vinyl (limited to 300 copies)

    09. Brodanse - Secret Service (Train Of Thought EP) [Dance Club Records | DCR018]

Established in 2012 the forward thinking 'House & Techno’ vinyl label Danse Club Records encompasses the well known ‘deep grooving tech vibe’ of the London-based dance duo Brodanse A.K.A Austen and Scott Smart.

Next up on Danse Club is a 2 track E.P. by label visionaries, Brodanse. The lead track 'Train Of Thought' (featuring Elli, who has previously worked alongside Tigerskin/Dub Taylor) is a full-on grooving club track that utilises a powerful 'horn' and a sub-heavy baseline made to be felt on the floor! The following track on the E.P. (appropriately named 'Secret Service') is a basic channel inspired club tool which is as simple as it is devastating - with tons of groove, deep spacious drums, filtered moody chords and eery bleeps - this is one for the deep after hour sessions.

Groove Armada - 'Love this, train of thought is killer'
Joris Voorn - 'Great tracks, great sound!'
Laurent Garnier - 'cool tracks '
Maya Jane Coles - 'Train of Thought is wicked, thanks'
Tensnake - 'love it, train of though is massive, thanks'
    Bushwacka!/JustBe - 'niiice'
Julien Chaptal - 'What a killer EP! Really diggin' both of these'
Art Department - 'train of thought yes'
Chris Fortier - 'really good on both, will play both'

    Released by: Danse Club Records
    Release/catalogue number: DCR018
    Release date: 05 January 2015

Re: Transitions 541 ● John Digweed with a guest mix by In.Phrequent

The first show of each year always seems to bring an exciting batch of releases, and 2015 is no exception. The maiden 2015 Bedrock release is a lush soundscape from Burn Studio (Ibiza) finalist BOg, demonstrating the label's commitment to putting new talent our way, as well as calling on their formidable roster.

There's a couple of great releases from Dec there too, in the Recondite remix and The Acid 'Ghost' Ep + an advance preview of Agents of Time (a big one to watch in 2015).

Wow wow wow I don't think I've heard anything like this from Maya Jane Cole before:

What a wicked bassline and that breakdown!

            Amazing improvement over the original
