I am not paying Mixcloud or any other streaming site. I don't think that mixes should be paid because I always thought that mixes are promotional tool which will help djs get more gigs. Not inculding commercially available mixes like Quattro.
I try to support label/producers through the other channels..And I try to support platforms from where I get "free" mixes.

Lol, they get their share anyway, it's been like that for years. Only, Mixcloud used to pay them, not fans.
I didn't know that. I know that Spotify numbers are very low, but I didn't know anything regarding Mixclouds bussiness plan.

Now dj mixes are protected by copyright. Not by the producers of the tracks but by the DJ who played them and a third party, a website who did not input anything but just had the idea. Producers will be paid a tiny fraction, if they will be at all.
People complaining about Babicz or Dixon putting a Buy It link in the past are silent now.
This applies to the live mixes streaming on Mixcloud, right?
I have no issue paying a monthly fee to Soundcloud for higher sound quality & the mixes made available for either download or stream. Mixcloud on the other hand, sound quality is shit house, plus you're expected to pay a subscription fee for individual artists, not a one size fits all subscription for the entire website, they are kidding themselves.
To be honest I'm not surprised by this pay-per listen movement we starting to see, I mean, DJ's want to get paid somehow right? Reality is, festivals won't be around for a while & while clubs will open a lot sooner, touring will be a while away with border restrictions.
Great thing about the internet however, content is almost always made available one way or another.
